Me too, that’s my favorite event. Catch y’all tomorrow.
Excited for this entire Tour! It’s going to be epic!
Good to see you again, ScaniaBoy!
Glad to hear you just came back from Texas - always a good time there. Sorry, I haven't visited Sweden since 1997. I hope we can take another trip there again sometime...
Fans all over the world hope so.
I'd love to see Andy or Cadel or Levi Leipheimer (if he has the stuff) win TdF 2011. Anybody except Contador.
I agree, Baynative! That's the reason I was attracted to watching the TdF years ago - Phil Liggett's commentary. I heard Phil for the first time during TdF 1997, when he was with Channel Four in the UK. He was later paired perfectly with the wonderful Paul Sherwen on the "Outdoor Life Network" (later Versus).
I'm sorry to sound whiny, but I'm not crazy about NBC/Versus' pre-race coverage so far - hope it changes. I'm glad Bob Roll is back, but what happened to the expanded panel with Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen before the race? (With all four of them wearing matching shirts, LOL)
I liked their daily banter and predictions, with one of them winning a 'yellow jersey' at the end of the Tour. Looks like a lot has changed...
...and speaking of pack sprints - The first significant sprint of the tour goes to our local boy Tyler Farrar who snuck up on Cavendish, Bonen and Pataki while they were watching each other! GO YANKS!
Go Tyler! We're rooting for him big time here, as we did last year.
Can’t imagine Levi competing at that level.
I am watching tour coverage on Eurosport. No Phil unfortunately, and no Roll.
And TC might drop another 30 seconds in today’s TTT.
Yeap, as someone said earlier life is a muther.......
Man, just checked the TdF site. Race officials gave the same time, 6 seconds, all the way down to the 77th rider.
Wiggens, Andy and Contador get the same time as the lead group.
Some controversy with that, I think. Contador was in the group that crashed ...maybe they were inside the 3k limit.
Thanks for that insight.
Agree that this brings more of the team into the competition.
Time will sort out the contenders, for now I’ll enjoy the buildup .

Unless they’ve updated the results and haven’t changed this page on their website Contador finished at 01’20” in 82th place. This was a discussion yesterday as to what the officials would do since they were within the 3km range.
The Contador situation is still up in the air as this race begins surrounding a drug investigation from last year. They have finished the investigation, thus if he is found guilty he’ll lose the win last year and any finish position he has this year. Sorta a strange situation in that he maybe racing with no chance of winning depending upon the investigation outcome and his being in the race will also impact the way some will ride the event..... just my specualting of course.....
Contador was involved/held up by a crash 8km out.
There was another crash 2km out. Andy Schleck was involved in that.
The riders in both crashes finished together. The Schleck crash riders had the 3km rule apllied, but not the Contador crash group.
The official tour site has Schleck 6" back and Contador 1'20" back.
The two groups finishing together makes it confusing<.p>
Sorry, slept in, Stage 2 Graphics will be up shortly.
They’re running a bit slower than the boys at Daytona last night. ;)
Dos anyone know what happened to Tyler Farrar? Yesterday he took a time bonus in the road stage and then was stopped behind the crash that also held up Cantador. Today his team (Garmin) won the TT and put their leader in Yellow. Yet, Farrar is now over 6 minutes back.
Tyler was 4’37” back yesterday or 181 or so in the rankings. Today he is 6’26” back so he lost almost two minutes in the short TT today. Sprinters aren’t necessarily road grinders and need to be in a pack to keep pace. What happened today I don’t know as I didn’t their TT.
