A St. Paul woman showed up to pick up her child from school Friday afternoon, and was arrested with a .30 blood-alcohol-content, police said.

The 44-year-old woman arrived at Linwood Monroe Arts Plus, pre-K through eighth grade, about 12:30 p.m. with her 8-year-old son, said police spokesman Andy Skoogman. She was picking up another one of her children, Skoogman said, when the 8-year-old went into the school and told the principal that his mother was not in driving shape.

The boy's mother remained in the car parked out front.

The principal went to the woman's car, took her keys and called police.

Police observed that the woman had "extremely" blood-shot eyes, smelled of alcohol and was slurring her words, Skoogman said.

I love the part about the 8-year-old narcing on her. That’s a child with a will to live.

I'm guessing she hasn't been sober since her mid-20's.

But happy in the sense she was taken off the road by a quick thinking 8 year old and a responsible adult, before she killed herself and her kid, or worse yet, someone else.

Yes it is. She looks like this is something that maybe for the last 2 or three months has troubled her. She does not look like a lifetime drunk.

I disagree Joe, I would say more like the last couple of months.Her hair is well cared for and her skin, other than around her eyes has good tone.At 44, that's about the age for severe depression to set in.
