I was just watching the original "True Grit" starring John Wayne. Yes, he deserved his Oscar for the role of Rooster Cogburn but opposite him was someone who played his part horribly. I am talking about Glenn Campbell as the Texas Ranger. Sheesh! Talk about stilted delivery. Really bad. Another example of bad acting was also in a John Wayne movie---"The Alamo." It was Frankie Avalon as Smitty who was supposed to be a young Tennessee frontiersman. I like Frankie Avalon in the beach flicks but, let's face it, he was waaay too urban to be believable in the role of Smitty. Whenever I see "The Alamo," it is impossible to forget that this is just a movie because of Frankie Avalon's completely unconvincing acting.
There are many other major movies with examples of really horrible acting. I cited a couple of such examples, so please list yours.
Reeves was worse in “Dangerous Liaisons.” Wasn’t he playing the same character?
While she was the weakest link in what I consider to be Brosnan’s finest Bond film, for bad acting, you really can’t give it to Denise Richards over Tanya Roberts in “View to a Kill,” the hands-down worst of the Bond films.
Maxwell Caulfield in Grease 2
Diane Lane in The Outsiders
Julia Roberts in anything that tries to portray her as a “pretty woman.”
Ooooh, forgot about that one. Yeah, you have a point. She was horrible in Sheena too.
Rosie O’Donnell doesn’t just chew the scenery, she swallows it when she’s done.
Also, the woman who played Deanna Troy. I’ve seen her in at least one other part where she supposedly had a Texan accent and it was obvious that she didn’t know how to act, rather than it being a difficult part to act.
True, but if the Betazoid could read my thoughts....I'd get my face slapped.
Carrie Fisher as princess Leia....really hard to watch. And we can’t forget Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker
Kirsten Dunst as Marie Antoinette. She played the French queen like a Southern California rock chick. “Let them eat iPods!”
Schwarzeneggar is not one of your greatest actors of all time.
I was running through the thread to see if anyone else had already posted Sondra Locke for the movie roles she was given in exchange for...
“Dennis Quaid, as Doc Holliday, in Wyatt Earp”
Val Kilmer’s portrayal of Doc Holliday was so electrifying that Quaid had no chance to even come close to Kilmer’s performance. The Kostner Wyatt Earp was terribly BORING compared to Tombstone, which is, of course, the classic Earp film.
What about Sofia Coppolla in Godfather 3.
Yeh, the opening scene in ‘Cobra’...worst of all time.
Kevin Costner in “Robin Hood”. Kevin Costner in “Waterworld”.
Dennis Quaid in “Flight of the Phoenix”
