Anyone else find FR to be really screwed this weekend?
Posted on 06/19/2011 8:27:35 PM PDT by Spartan79
How about a post from FR on what the h**l is going on. Page loads are erratic and more often than not fail. How long until we can expect resumption of normal service? What gives. (I've seen several comments to posts also complaining about problems. I'm not having problems with any other sites, just Free Republic.)

Yes. Not slow. Not down. But it keeps sending out that Service Temporarily not Available notice.
Something is up. Maintenance, overcrowding, hacker attack, whatever.
When FR seems to be having problems, I usually visit Yahoo! FreeRepublic2. (Yahoo FR 1 was kidnapped.) There is often a discussion there if the site is down, and sometimes an explanation from Jim or John.

This seems to be a little different tonight. Refresh a few times and that can get through, but probably also overloads the site even more. And if you aren’t careful, it can produce multiple replies.

I don’t know...you might want to ask for a partial refund of this month’s membership fee if it really bothers you.

Yes. Could be a denial of service attack.

Yarp. It's frustrating, all right. Haven't heard if it's a denial of service attack, some sort of bandwidth issue, or what. Maybe they're just mucking the stalls at the ol' server farm. Nothing I'll get overly-torqued about this late on a Sunday evening.

And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."

Hey, YOU try and hold the fate of the world on your server 24-7 every moment of life and see how easy it is. They do a good job IMO.
