“So it’s a boy, right?” a neighbour calls out as Kathy Witterick walks by, her four month old baby, Storm, strapped to her chest in a carrier.
Witterick smiles,comments on the sunny spring day, and keeps walking.
She’s used to it. The neighbours know Witterick and her husband, David Stocker, are raising a genderless baby. But they don’t pretend to understand it.
Witterick and Stocker believe they are giving their children the freedom to choose who they want to be, unconstrained by social norms about males and females.
“What we noticed is that parents make so many choices for their children. It’s obnoxious,” says Stocker.
The boys are encouraged to challenge how they’re expected to look and act based on their sex.
“In fact, in not telling the gender of my precious baby, I am saying to the world, ‘Please can you just let Storm discover for him/herself what s (he) wants to be?!”
When asked what psychological harm, if any, could come from keeping the sex of a child secret, Zucker said: “One will find out.”
The couple plan to keep Storm’s sex a secret as long as Storm, Kio and Jazz are comfortable with it. In the meantime, philosophy and reality continue to collide.
There are questions about which bathroom Storm will use, but that is a couple of years off. Then there is the “tyranny of pronouns,” as they call it. They considered referring to Storm as “Z”. Witterick now calls the baby she, imagining the “s” in brackets.
For the moment, it feels right.
“Everyone keeps asking us, ‘When will this end?’” says Witterick. “And we always turn the question back. Yeah, when will this end? When will we live in a world where people can make choices to be whoever they are?”

I don’t care for the increasing use of ‘gender’ instead of the correct word in this context, ‘sex.’
Words can come in three genders -masculine, feminine, and neutral. People come in one of two sexes - male or female.
True, there are also hermaphrodites.
Ahh... One of those girls who is born with male genitalia...

At this point the state has an interest in the abuse of thic child by parents who obviously are psycho. Everything about this story is icky to the point where I want to bathe from having read what disgusting feel-good liberalism actually does.
She reminded me of something made out of spare parts,
there was no theme in her life. All religions mixed together, it all made no sense.
I have, over the years, as manager or co-worker dealt with the adult children of hippies. They are screwed-up in countless ways. Worse, they have no model by which to raise their own children so this cultural abuse gets handed down. Drug and alcohol abuse is rampant. I’ve had several tell me that they’d get treats like getting to smoke the roaches for finishing their homework. In some cases their parents loved to get high with them and “bond.” In other cases, the parents would tell the kids not to smoke while sucking down the last of a water-pipe; or drinking the pipe’s water.
These, for the most part, are seriously dysfunctional people.
I have on every occasion possible suggested to the hippie grandchildren that joining the Marines might add to their life diversity. The suggestion has been universally met with horror.
I recently read in an FR posted article that in Europe children as young as 12 were getting government paid sex changes. Children try so hard to live up to (or down to) the expectation of their care givers I can’t help but think their care givers are like these people. They laud politically correct actions so much, the children, not even realizing what they’re doing, are playing their gender game. They will be permanently ruined.
Perhaps because they're not old enough to choose yet?! Good grief ... why don't you just get the infant his/her own apartment and make him/her take a job? Gotta start 'em young, ya know.

Let’s hope the kid makes the free choice to move out of the whacko ward his parents call home as soon as possible.
And I thought my Narcissist parents did their best to try and mess me up.
These kids are soooo screwed.
I went to college and majored in social work with the intention of working with abused and neglected children. The problem was, I felt the best way to deal with abusive parents was to beat the living hell out of them so they really know what that child has experienced. Unfortunatly, that treatment option is frowned upon. I still think that is the best way to deal with abusive parents and these two wackos should get immediate treatment.

They are assuming that by not influencing the children, the are creating a vacuum in which the children will become creatures of their own creation.
Not so. If one reads the entire article, It is easily seen that these children are being raised in secrecy, which by its very nature will have an extremely powerful influence on them.
A lack of influence by the parents does not equal zero influence at all. They will be influenced by pop culture for the most part, as it is so prevalent in our society.
Take note of the extreme lengths the parents take in isolating the children.
They are not free in the least bit, they are prisoners.
The kids are toast. Witterick and Stocker can't even figure out if their in the same family.
