Continuing from the article:
"The Wave Disk Generator uses 60 percent of its fuel for propulsion; standard car engines use just 15 percent. As a result, the generator is 3.5 times more fuel efficient than typical combustion engines.
Researchers estimate the new model could shave almost 1,000 pounds off a car's weight currently taken up by conventional engine systems.
The engine has a rotor that's equipped with wave-like channels that trap and mix oxygen and fuel as the rotor spins. These central inlets are blocked off, building pressure within the chamber, causing a shock wave that ignites the compressed air and fuel to transmit energy.

So it’s like a diesel engine (no spark plugs) and a turbo somehow combined.
I’d like to see a working model.

Similar concept to a turbine engine and much cheaper to make probably. If they can produce it cheap then this is huge.

IMHO Nothing wrong with the modern combustion engine if ya remove the EPA mandated drag anchors errrr pollution control errr.... accessories.
X-Prize an affordable 2 seat commuter ride with nerf like qualities run flat tires and 300hp to the rear wheels that gets 100mpg. Don’t forget a Sat Sirrus / XM FM radio with bluetooth and GPS !
Oh an a bubba mug holder !

I would guess it wouldn't have much torque as it isn't spinning much of a flywheel. Could be good for a generator but not for direct power.

We know how this goes. A secret oil company group will buy this off the developers and the news is leaked that this was just impossible science.

Interesting technology but the article goes OTT on trying to sell it.

The Wankel was a major change in the ICE paradigm. Perhaps this “wave engine” is yet another. Lots of things to like about its performance characteristics !! But its a damn long way from production.......And I’m old... >PS

I will remain a doubter if the best they can do is produce a small jpeg and someone who can’t describe it in understandable English.
