Dear Cathy: How do you train a cat to stay out of a crib? Were about to have a baby and I dont want the cat getting into the crib at night?
Erlene
Dear Erlene: To discourage your cat from getting in the crib before the baby comes, place double-sided tape (available at pet stores) or aluminum foil in the crib. When the cat jumps in, he or she wont like the texture and will most likely jump out. After a few attempts, your cat should stop trying to get into the crib. Of course, please remove the foil and tape from the crib when your baby arrives.
However, the best way to keep your cat out of the crib is to make sure the cat is not in the room when you leave it, then close the door and use a monitor to listen for your baby.

I actually saw “Cat’s Eye” in the theater. Nice obscure reference.

CATS are valuable and useful beings (don’t call them ANIMALS!). They kill rodents for food, they’re quiet, clean, loving, nice, polite, cute, wonderful, did I mention NICE?, kind, considerate, and all that PLUS they come to you when you call them . . . . DON’T THROW OFF ON CATS!! Who ever it was who threw off on cats . . . .

Absolutely. Also invaluable for chipmunk control. No more holes in my lawn.
Cats are a must have around my farm, such as it is.

field mice and spiders and all kinds of un-wanted critters seem to dissappear when you get a cat.
That makes logical sense. Cats eat the mice, snakes go elsewhere to hunt.

So do you mark your territory to keep her out when you’re not watching? Inquiring minds want to know, LOL!

There are rattlesnakes out here. My Stuffy is a slasher; so they don’t stand a chance with her. Half Persian, half Siamese, sharp claws; but she’s a sweetie, sort of.

“field mice and spiders and all kinds of un-wanted critters seem to dissappear when you get a cat.”
We don’t have any mice to speak of where we live, but our cat does like to go after spiders.
I suspect we probably don’t have mice in the neighborhood because we have at least three or four strays about...

Or rats.
When I had my cats in NY they really were just pets. When we came down to FL they brought home rats regularly and caught them in the house, too. (People not from FL don’t know that rats tend to haunt your house if you have citrus trees).
