The 10 Commandments - Texas Style

People in Texas have trouble with all those "shalls" and "shall nots" in the Ten Commandments.

Folks there just aren't used to talking in those terms. So, some folks out in west Texas got together and translated the "King James" into "King Ranch" language:

The Cowboy's Ten Commandments

(1) Just one God.

(2) Honor yer Ma & Pa.

(3) No tellin' tales or gossipin'.

(4) Git yourself to Sunday meetin'.

(5) Put nothin' before God.

(6) No foolin' around with another fellow's gal.

(7) No killin.'

(8) Watch yer mouth.

(9) Don't take what ain't yers.

(10) Don't be hankerin' for yer buddy's stuff.

TREAT OTHERS JUST THE WAY YOU WANT TO BE TREATED

Yes, DD. “Seems like only yesterday”, doesn’t it?

George Hamilton’s mother was on one of the morning talk shows, many years ago (I think she was being interviewed by Diane Sawyer - but don’t recall).

“Mrs. Hamilton - how old are you?” Then, after a short pause, “Oh, I’m so sorry. I should know better than to ask a woman her age!”

“Oh, my dear,” Mrs. Hamilton replied, “You can’t lie about your age, when your son needs a face lift!”

I still smile when I think of that interaction.

My son has grey hair, now, and it is a reminder of how far up in the years this granny is getting. LOL!!!

I know you had a great time at your grandson’s Birthday party!

Isn’t that the sweetest story and that precious little dog was so thankful and wanted to lick the man’s face who was helping him. Just darling and so touching. I would take that sweet dog.

I always liked that song and Brenda Lee, too!

A little side note concerning my April 1st birthday. My dad’s birthday was March 31st and they wanted me to be born that day so bad and as my Dad always teased me that “You were always stubborn starting on your birthday.” And Dad knew I was anything but stubborn through my life! Just some tidbits of life....LOL!

Known For Compassion
April 2, 2011

During Major Gen. Mark Graham’s 2 years as commander of Fort Carson, Colorado, he became known and loved for the way he treated others. One US Army colleague said: “I have never come across another general officer who was so compassionate and so concerned about the well-being of soldiers and their families.” After losing one son to suicide and another who was killed in action, Mark and his wife, Carol, dedicated themselves to helping soldiers and their families cope with service-related stress, depression, and loss.

In the book of Acts, a follower of Christ was well known for his care and concern toward others. His name was Joseph, but in the early church, the apostles called him Barnabas—“son of encouragement.” It was Barnabas who vouched for the newly converted Saul when others doubted the sincerity of his faith (Acts 9:26-27). Later, Barnabas brought Saul from Tarsus to teach the believers in Antioch (11:25-26). And it was Barnabas who wanted to give John Mark a second chance after his failure on a previous missionary journey (15:36-38).

Compassion is an inner feeling resulting in outward action. It should be our daily uniform of service (Col. 3:12). By God’s grace, may we be known for it.

Lord, help us be compassionate
To people in their grief;
Then tell them of the love of Christ,
Who’ll bring their souls relief. —Sper

True compassion is love in action.

Read: Acts 11:19-26

He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord. —Acts 11:24

Walk a little plainer daddy
Said a little boy so frail,
I'm following your footsteps and
I don't want to fail.
Sometimes your steps are plain
Sometimes they are hard to see,
So walk a little plainer Daddy.
For you are leading me."

I know that once you walked
This way many years ago,
What you did along the way
I'd really like to know
For sometimes when I'm tempted
I don't know what to do
So walk a little plainer, Daddy,
For I must follow you.

Someday when I'm grown up.
You are like I want to be,
Then I will have a little boy
Who will want to follow me
And I want to lead him right.
And help him to be true
So walk a little plainer, Daddy
For we must follow you.

Oh Yum! My very favorite thing! I have 5 in my candy hiding place now....LOL! I have a big red apple on the back of one of the counters and I always kept candy in there for my granddaughters when they visited. They would go to the big red apple to see what I had in there and get what they wanted!

Now I use it for myself mostly! LOL! After Easter is over, there will be no more marshmallow eggs...boohoo! What WILL I do? I could write new words to that old song “What’ll I Do?” Remember that one!
