We just had Popeyes for dinner. There was a lively discussion regarding it compared to KFC. I'd like your thoughts. I say you can't beat the red beans and rice though.

I remember some nonsense a few years ago where black people thought that Church's put something in their chicken to sterilize them. Heh.

It ain’t local.
For some reason KFC is now cooking their chicken longer than they used to. It used to come out a juicy, tender brown. Anymore it almost looks orange once they hand it to the customer.

Before KFC or Popeye there was another famous (or notorious) chain:I have some stuff from the Coon Chicken Inn, including some matches from their restaurant in Lake City WA.

When Col Sanders was alive, he used to pop into locations unannounced and taste the gray. If it wasn't up to his standards, he would tell them to dump the whole batch and start again. If he were still alive, the uneven quality would not exist. Lots of KFC gravy being sold that would make the Col roll in his grave.

When KFC started out they had great fall off the bone chicken. There original chicken is no longer original but so close to their crispy!
Churches Chicken does not know how to cut a chicken up. I think they just use an ax and chop away. Their fried okra is a good side.
I do like Popeye's chicken and their choice of sides. The red beans and rice are good.
New to me is a place called Cain's. They just fry up chicken fingers (breast meat) when you order, nothing sitting out under heat lamps. Good chicken. Only problem is they have a limited menu of side orders - Fries!

There’s a Popeye’s in Minneapolis. I much prefer their food over KFC.

We have a Popeye’s in upstate NY, but no Church’s. Church’s has the best poppers!

I was surprised to see somebody else who knows about Bush’s on this thread. Great chicken tenders and fried okra and the best sweet tea in Central Texas.
