I also remember “13th Hour” on channel 2 at midnight on Fridays.
One Friday (pre 1958) “The Thing” movie was being shown and Ch.2 had a bit from that movie during a commercial break(?), the Thing was trying to get into the building and the TV engineers played a looped repeat of the Thing opening the door, the background music they played was “I hear you knocking, but you can’t come in..”.
As kids my brothers and neighbor Harry Weir all laughed our heads off..!!
They don’t make them like that anymore, indeed!
I remember the first time I heard that line after renting the video. I thought it was priceless then, and it hasn’t changed over the years!
This is why I don't take academics seriously anymore.
And why tenure should be abolished; and almost all education except math, and the sciences, should be eliminated. Math and science, except for lab classes, should moved to web-based, very low cost, with subscription only for questions (e.g. look at Yahoo! Answers for physics and you'll see why we need to vet science teachers).
