Ever Googled Your FR Handle?
Vanity ^ | 15 March 2001 | Windflier

Ever tried Googling your Free Republic handle? I just did, and boy, did I find some surprises.

Interestingly, lots of my comments over the years on FR have been picked up and re-posted by bloggers (in a complimentary fashion). I'm honored.

On the other hand, I've also been quoted at Daily KOS and other unsavory cess pits, as a prime example of neanderthal Rethuglican thinking. Sweet. I suppose I should take that as a compliment, too(?)

One uber-liberal blogger who goes by the name "Field Negro", quoted me completely out of context in order to paint a picture of a self-hating black man, cowed and groveling at the knees, among a seething lair of white racists (that'd by y'all Freepers). Sick stuff.

I've also discovered that folks'll stop by your online photo collections and re-post your pics in the strangest places.

Try it sometime. You might be surprised at what you find.

LOL - I DEFINITELY stand by my post.

In the US, we have rules...to think they apply to other countries is INSANE. So yes, if you dress provocatively in certain situations, in other countries, don’t be surprised out your outcome.

I’ve been cited, quoted and even investigated (or researched). I consider it a compliment. The funny thing I found is that when you make a solid conservative statement the lefties consider it as some sort of hate speech. I was taken to task by a local newspaper for posting a cartoon of Jesse Jackson playing the race card. It’s true, of course. In fact it’s his only real talent in life. But, come right out and say so and it sets their heads a spinnin’ like Linda Blair in the Exorcist.

I found about twenty quotes of my FR posts on DummycraticUnderground. They hate me. They really hate me.

And strangely I found a neighborhood/suburb of Cleveland named Karlin, Ohio.

It’s when I google my real name that is scary.

Yikes! I just found my obituary. I thought I was pretty healthy.

Think about it...someone at the NY Times went to the effort to transcribe your letter into digital format.

Use of Optical Character Recognition software, combined with micro film or micro fiche is far more likely.

I didn't pay close attention in passing, and I'm not going back to it. I am, however, going to complain to the management ... maybe. I did get a kick out of the Obama worshipers who tried to mischaracterize comments I've made on birther threads. There are exact same segment misquotes on three different obammy worshiper blogs, exposing the obvious axelgreasy approach to negative astroturfing.

That was cool. Found a few posts pulled into DU, KOS, Alex Jones forums, some other obviously liberal sites and a bunch of other off the wall comments posted on several other blogs and message boards.

Ha! I am on page 2 of a Google search.

Violating the most basic conservative principles is a sure way to lose the election.-Jim Robinson

The founders intended for elected representatives to serve their constituents and return to the the life they lived before being elected, and live under the laws they passed, not to join an exclusive club that has special rights and privileges above the people they swore to serve! POP

I have been complete topics at DU and Huffington post. Especially after I was on with Glenn Beck, Fox and Friends and Neil Cavuto... Those people are just as vicious as they come. Threats to my life, my family etc... Union thug tactics cause I’m a TEA Party guy from NY... How dare I.

Obituary, how sad, you were just writing to me. : )

Are these people born with a missing chromosome? Did all of their parents drop them on thier heads?

I wonder sometimes. I've even tried to figure out what makes some of my own siblings such rabid liberals.

I think a lot of what causes a person's ideological orientation, has to do with personality. If they're the individualistic, independent, iconoclastic type, they'll probably find common ground with others of their bent, who tend to mostly be conservatives.

If they're of the herd mentality, hew toward the status quo, or the type who follow the pack, they'll likely tend to be attracted to the liberal mindset.

Now, of course, liberals will want to see it the other way around, but it's funny how appearances are exactly the reverse of what they seem on the surface. Liberals are NOT the 'free thinkers', or 'free spirits' they imagine themselves to be - by direct observation.

One of the central tenets of liberalism is, "Thou Shalt Not Look". In other words, liberalism encourages one to NOT seek their own truth, but to follow the rigid dogma and indoctrination of the elites. I know this well, from having been born and raised in that environment.

Conservatism, on the other hand, demands that one examine all of the facts, then apply reason and logic to what you've observed to arrive at an independent conclusion. People who are in the habit of doing this in life tend to all get similar results in their thinking, which creates a natural consensus - one that has NOT been forced into groupthink by the elites, the status quo, dogma, or group orthodoxy.

That is the definition of a free people. You can't have an independent thought, or disagree with the herd, if you're a liberal.

When my daughter was in high school, she swore that our phones were tapped. That was back in the Slick Willie POTUS days, and every time I walked past the TV set I swore at it.

Yep. Americans haven't had real privacy since long before the advent of the internet. Now we have approximately none.

That's one reason that I always laugh when some poster worries that we might get ourselves put on some 'list' by posting edgy comments. Sometimes I'll let them know that they're already on the 'list' just by being here!
