This year was actually a good year for movies, as Ive written repeatedly. The Kings Speech was great; so was Toy Story 3; Inception may go down as one of the most creative films of all time. The Fighter was excellent as well.
Then there were the overrated films. Black Swan was atrociously awful, another Aronofsky masterpiece of self-aggrandizing bullcrap. The Kids Are All Right was a TV movie masquerading as a prestige film because it was about lesbians. True Grit was a remake.

I’d have to add anything by Spike Lee.
Prizzi’s Honor and Chinatown. I have nothing personal against John Huston but I never saw anything particularly great about his work. I distinctly remember counting the ceiling tiles in the theater during Prizzi’s Honor out of sheer boredom.
Underrated classics: The Groove Tube and Kentucky Fried Movie.
I strongly agree. AG is a great flick.
Juno makes my Tourette’s flare up terribly, and I like Michael Cera.
On another note, I’ve wanted to start a thread about FReepers favorite (not the best ever made) flicks. Anyone in?
Christmas Vacation is the same way. I have to watch it every year. Maybe twice or thrice.
Oh, I Had forgotten about that turkey.
They should have to pay you a hundred dollars for having wasted your time watching “American Beauty”.
The War of the Worlds remake with Tom Cruise was very disappointing. It started out GREAT, then bogged down and got downright kooky after that. The ending was flat.
Yeah, it’s kind of scary how much like The Matrix our current climate is. I’d have to agree.
I thought it was interesting how Obama joked this week about “Born in the USA.”
I can't believe he thinks the Matrix is over rated.
That Movie is SO freaking amazing on sooooo many different levels.
I honestly don't think he grasped the deeper messages.
Great scene and Rutger Hauer stole that movie from Harrison Ford. His character Roy Batty the replicant was fantastic.
2001 - I agree!
What THE HELL is that movie about?
I’ve heard that about American Beauty, but I’ve never seen that one, so couldn’t really comment on it.
Of course, it’s a chick flick.
as was 2001 a Space Odyssey and Contact.
Though Contact started great but then became nonsensical after she went on the trip
I really enjoyed True Grit. Stayed pretty true to the original and the book!
The Matrix is a GREAT sci-fi movie. I just wish they had stopped after the first one.
Actually very profound
The best part of “Titanic” was Leonardo DiCaprio’s character drowns in the cold North Atlantic. As for Celine Dion . . . please . . . let’s not go there.
I can’t for the life of me understand what they see in DiCaprio. I find him very unattractive.
UGH!
Then like a fool someone talks me into seeing Atonement, which turned out to be the same kind of crap.
I also hated Bridges of Madison County. I think only a sick mind would like that movie. And while I'm at it, I can't stand anything with Meryl Streep.
Balde Runner was OK.
