This year was actually a good year for movies, as Ive written repeatedly. The Kings Speech was great; so was Toy Story 3; Inception may go down as one of the most creative films of all time. The Fighter was excellent as well.
Then there were the overrated films. Black Swan was atrociously awful, another Aronofsky masterpiece of self-aggrandizing bullcrap. The Kids Are All Right was a TV movie masquerading as a prestige film because it was about lesbians. True Grit was a remake.

Oh, and I agree about Close Encounters.

Philadelphia was the most overrated movie I can think of. All movies that Sean Penn has been in (Shanghai Surprise, I am Sam, 21 Grams, Milk, etc) were very overrated.

"Time...to die."
The author doesn't get that. I don't get the author.

Exactly. And the problem is, even if your wife is a smart lady, if she watches that over & over, guaranteed she is accepting a lot of the lib premises

17. Little Miss Sunshine:
Cute premise totally ruined by that guy from the Office, whom outside of that show is a horrible actor.
19. Juno:
I hate Michael Cera. One note Johnny whose novelty has long since worn off.

I read 2001 before I had seen the movie. I was in HS, and it was after Star Wars had come out.
I loved the book.
I have never made it through the movie without falling asleep.
HUGELY disappointing.

Disagree about “Annie Hall”, “American Grafitti” and “Blade Runner”—great films all. Agree about “Lost in Translation”. I would have picked “Napoleon Dynamite” instead of “Juno” for the list.

No with the exception of the original The Producers. Funniest comedy ever made.
