A double-yoker, I’ll wager.

I once had a Buff Orphington hen who would produce an oucher occasionally.

We once had a chicken produce an 8 ounce egg on my father's farm. It was double-shelled.

That would be akin to a gal popping out a 10 lb. baby! I feel that hen’s pain.

Geez! That's some egg! One of my Rhode Island Reds laid me a 91 gram egg last September, our biggest egg to date, but that's only a 3 oz egg. 4 1/2 ounces is enough to make an omelet to feed 2 people comfortably.

If you want eggs, Australorps are some of the best laying hens ever. We had a dozen of those, and many of them laid two eggs/day. Very hardy chickens that start laying early, and even free range outside, lay all through the winter.

Yikes. I hope they gave that hen the rest of the week off. She’s earned it.
