BTW, no offense to Pennsylvanian FReepers...but I can't do the shoofly pie. My dad loved molasses more than just about anything, and had it with breakfast almost every day, but I never developed a taste for it. Unless you count it in the form of rum, that is. :-)
Thought the shoofly was mostly molasses?

Although I’ve lived in the deep south for quite some time, one yankee predisposition I can’t abandon is my love for a good rhubarb pie. And don’t ruin it with strawberries. Rhubarb is supposed to be tart. If you put sweet berries in it, it defeats the entire purpose!
Key Lime is awesome. As is hot apple pie a la mode. Doesn’t have to be fancy. Cherry pie a la mode. Or pumpkin pie with a mountain of whipped cream. :) I like them simple and fresh.
I like rhubarb pie quite a bit myself. We used to grow it in our backyard when I was growing up.
Your right about the rhubarb pie... plain and with home made lard pie crust....
Can’t STAND raisins. Never have.
My grandpa used to eat his apple pie topped with a slice of sharp cheddar cheese. It’s actually pretty good that way, though I like ice cream better.
I have reported this thread to the Whitey Hut.
...hot out of the oven with a dollop of vanilla ice-cream on the side :-)
We have a local restaurant that makes delicious Buttermilk pie. Hmmm might have to see about going to get a piece of that tomorrow.
A tart cherry pie with vanilla ice cream probably is the best pie going. It is closely followed by an apple pie or a blueberry pie. Any berry pie is good, however. IMHO
There, this thread is now Mooooochelle and White House approved.
You could give me peanut butter and chocolate on a wooden spoon and I would likely only return a toothpick. Yuuuuum
