Well, here's one:

Yesterday, I decided to try and find the store where I purchased leather fleece lined clogs, three months ago. (I wasn't even sure I remembered at what store I bought them.)

I found the store, went in, to get a second pair of the shoes that I have REALLY enjoyed (for around the house wear), and they were THERE! On SALE for a 'buy one - get one free' deal! So, I got two more pairs! (for the price of one!)

Then, I saw some leather, fleece lined scuffs near my clogs - and decided to go ahead and pick a pair up - as I need some warm slippers...

I paid for the footwear, and on my way out the door, took a sale flyer.

When I got in the car, I started skimming through the flyer, and saw the SCUFFS were on sale, too - at 'buy one - get one free!'

So, I went back into the store, and they gave me the second pair free!

I showed them to my 'secret buddy', and HE wanted them, too - so today, I went back and got two more pair for the price of one! (And, I got the last two pair left in his size!) LOL!

THEN, I stocked up on batteries, that were on sale for half price. (Batteries are rising in cost rapidly - and I’m always needing a couple “C”s or “AAA”s)

From now on - I am only buying stuff that is on sale for half price. The prices are rising on everything - and I refuse to pay those inflated prices (if I can help it!)

I also found a market that has produce that is less than half the price at my local grocery store (Safeway), so I stocked up on fresh veggies and fruit.

The fast increase in food costs is mind boggling! Stock up while you can, folks! (Blanch, and freeze, if you can!)

Gotta love BOGO!

Lucky you went when you did!

I have fleece lined slippers but only had one color. Was in a store a few weeks ago and they were in the 'dig thru bin'. Got them for $2.74 after all the discounts! lol

Greater Compassion
February 25, 2011

I first met my wife, Marlene, in college. I was majoring in pastoral studies, and she was working on a degree in elementary education. The first time I saw her working with children, I knew what a natural fit this was for her. She loved children. It became even more obvious when we got married and had children of our own. Seeing her with them was an education in unconditional love and acceptance. It was clear to me that there is nothing in all the world like the tender love and compassion of a mother for her newborn child.

That’s what makes Isaiah 49:15 so remarkable. It’s here that God told His people, who were feeling forsaken and forgotten (v.14), that His compassion is even greater than a mother’s: “Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you.”

Sometimes we face struggles in life, and we are tempted to think that God has forgotten us. We may even believe that God no longer loves us. But God’s love for us is as expansive as the open arms of Christ on the cross. And the tender compassion of our heavenly Father is more dependable and more enduring than the love of a nursing mother for her infant. Be comforted—His love never fails.

God will not forget His children
Nor will He forsake our care;
His compassion is enduring—
Even when we’re unaware. —Sper

God’s love for us is as expansive
as the open arms of Christ on the cross.

Read: Isaiah 49:13-18

Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you. —Isaiah 49:15

OUCH!! Oh my gosh, Rus! I’ve heard of fingers, arms, etc. getting caught in the wringer but not what you said.

Mama used to let me stand on the other side and get the clothes when they came through and she would tell me which tub of water to put them in. One tub had bleach water and one had plain water. I would beg to put the clothes through the wringer and she might let me but warned of people getting their hands and arms hung in the wringer.

I remember every piece of clothes had to be hung neatly on the outside clothes lines (after we cleaned the lines with a wet rag.)

I often wonder what the younger generation would do without our fancy new washers and dryers.

I look back on those days with sweet memories now! I remember we didn’t have much but were happy, happy people!
We had clothes to wear and food on the table and figured everyone lived the same back then and most of them did.

Living By Promises Not Explanations

“Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask Him.” Matthew 6:8

According to an article, Henry Ford asked some engineers to box the transmissions for his Model-T Fords in certain sized boxes. He gave meticulous dimensions and material instructions for these boxes. The builders were confused, but they did as they were told.

When the transmissions were delivered, the factory workers took apart the boxes and used them for the floorboards! Mr. Ford was thinking ahead!

That’s what God does. He knows what we need even before we ask Him. We may not understand all of His ways, just like those workers who were boxing up the transmissions did not understand.

We do not live by our understanding; we live by His promises.

Is there something happening in your life right now that you don’t understand? Read Proverbs 3:5-6 and trust in the promise that He will direct your path.

So a dude turns to the guy next to him at a bar and asks, “Hey, you wanna hear a redneck story?
“The guy says, “Buddy, I’m six feet, 210 pounds, an’ ma name’s Billy Joe. You see the guy on the other side of you? That there’s Bubba. He’s 225 pounds of solid muscle and he’s a redneck. And the boy next to him? Mike’s a trucker who weighs 295 and he’s a redneck, too. Now, do you still want to tell your redneck story?”The fella says, “Naw, you’re right. . . I’d hate to have to explain it three times!”

The Good Old Days

Grandpa and Grandpa were sitting in their porch rockers watching the beautiful sunset and reminiscing about “the good old days,” when Grandma turned to Grandpa and said, “Honey, do you remember when we first started dating and you used to just casually reach over and take my hand?”

Grandpa looked over at her, smiled and obligingly took her aged hand in his.

With a wry little smile, Grandma pressed a little farther, “Honey, do you remember how after we were engaged, you’d sometimes lean over and suddenly kiss me on the cheek?”

Grandpa leaned slowly toward Grandma and gave her a lingering kiss on her wrinkled cheek.

Growing bolder still, Grandma said, “Honey, do you remember how, after we were first married, you’d kind of nibble on my ear?”

Grandpa slowly got up from his rocker and headed into the house. Alarmed, Grandma said, “Honey, where are you going?”

Grandpa replied, “To get my teeth!”
