I do appreciate it!

A number of years age we stopped at one of those 24hr restaurants. I so wanted a Monte Cristo. Looked at the menu, not listed. I asked the waitress if the cook could make one...she said, "I don't think so as I don't even know what it is"! I thanked her and continued scanning the menu.

They offered a deep fried battered ham and cheese sandwich. When she returned I ordered that and asked to have turkey added to it. She said, "Ok, no problem"! LOL

"I so wanted a Monte Cristo"

I know what you mean, Teenie!
I LOVE a TRUE Monte Cristo Sandwich.

Problem is, no one makes them anymore.
(You know - cardiac scare everywhere!)

Well, I am SICK of being offered
Vegetables and TOFU on whole wheat pita bread!
(And then have to pretend it is DELICIOUS!)

I'm moving in with Paula Deen
Who FRIES her bacon in deep fat! LOL!

*****************

You wanna know a secret? I went to lunch with ten lady friends several years back,
And, we were all looking at the menu, when I spotted the "Deep southern fried chicken sandwich, crispy and crunchy on the outside and juicy white meat chicken inside, served on a huge, homemade kaiser roll".
I said aloud, "Oh, MY GOODNESS, that Chicken sandwich sounds SOOoooo yummy!"

The server started taking orders around the table, and every single lady ordered the chicken sandwich - and then he came to me......"I'll have the garden salad (with no dressing), and one dry melba toast on the side."

Every one of my "FRIENDS" glared at me, and as soon as the server left, they all said "B**CH!" in unison!
(A joke, of course - LOL!)

Where can I get a Monte Cristo? I cried like a baby when Bennigans went out of business. (Incidentally, Bennigans going under triggered this entire economic collapse)

Yep, got my Military ID card renewed, (good for four years) - and then went to the Commissary, and stocked up on paper towels, kleenex, tp, liquid dish soap, diswashing detergent, laundry soap, etc. (Then, stocked up on produce, and some canned goods.) I also filled the tank, while still on the base.

I think I will be making a trip to the Base every month or two from now on!

Where can I get a Monte Cristo?

I haven't seen one on a menu in a long time! But then, small town living isn't the best for restaurants! :) (We don't even have any fast food places!)

Green peppers are $1.69 at my local grocer - they were $.69 at the base. Cilantro is $1.29 a bunch here, but at the base - $.59 a bunch. Cantelopes were $.59 each there. It is well worth the trip. (The paper towels, tp and kleenex were half what they are in my local store.)

I don’t know how far you are from a base - but, with a Military ID, you can get on any military base, and go to their PX. Even the gas was much cheaper. (And one thing to remember for all military people - there is no TAX charged on anything.)

A friend of mine who has a wonderful bed and breakfast just called me - she went shopping for fresh fruit for her guests, and everything in the store cost almost a third more than it cost a week ago.

Something is not right, here...................
