Chris Medina was cut on Wednesday’s episode of “American Idol,” but it won’t be the last viewers see of him. Not long after his end on the reality series was announced, the news that he will appear on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” was released. The late night talk show airs on Channel 12 in Tempe.

According to From Inside The Box, Medina will appear on this Friday night’s episode with Leno, and he will also perform. However, there is something special about this performance. He will sing a song written specifically for him by Rodney Jerkins, otherwise known as Darkchild. The producer has worked with the likes of Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Lopez in the past.

The title of the song Jerkins wrote for Medina is “What are Words,” and it will be released to the Internet in advance of the appearance on Thursday. Jennifer Lopez broke down after she had to let this singer go, but it sounds like his career will continue on with just this little push from “American Idol.”

American Idol finalist Casey Abrams was rushed to a hospital late Wednesday afternoon, TMZ reported.

Abrams, one of the top 24 finalists on the Fox singing competition, had reportedly complained of severe stomach pains. He was taken to a hospital located near CBS Television City in Los Angeles, where the show tapes, and was expected to stay overnight or longer.

Abrams is supposed to tape a performance on Friday, TMZ reported, citing sources saying that the aspiring singer would be eliminated if he isn’t well enough to perform.

Abrams wasn’t part of the group that was shown making the cut on Wednesday night’s show, which means he’ll likely be shown on Thursday’s show.

My next door neighbor unbeknownst to me was grilling in their backyard. All the smoke (unbeknownst to me) came into my home office. I watched in the living room and missed u guys.

I liked the Nashville boy/girl pair the best! I'm over power singers. I like singers who remind me of Alison Krauss. That Nashville guy is very unique (now I've probably jinxed him.)

but the second hour, where they start the cut from 40-24..they showed just about ZERO singing..so why is this?..

It looks like they're milking it for as many episodes as the can. I'm reading a book while AI is on until they get to individuals singing, and stop all of the soap opera stuff.

Maybe it's me, but I just don't see that really cool talent jumping out at me. It's mostly a bunch of people trying to look professional and whining about how their life will be ruined if they don't make it to the next round.

Lauren kinda like Marcia Brady. Marcia, Marcia, Marcia. She needs to stop cryin' though cuz it's not professional. When J. Lo fell apart, was she acting or was she falling apart?

You can't tell me J.Lo literally fell apart sending people home. I think she was acting.

Do we need Kleenex. Keep that box handy for tonight and until the last two standing. This year has more crying than ever before. There are less guitars but more tears.

Boo hoo. Winners and losers, boo hoo.

JLo had to be acting. I didn’t see any tears. Not like Demi Moore’s signature 1 tear down the cheek. I think JLo was acting cuz the producer said “more drama”!

IMO, I believe they already have a van full of outfits/costumes and stylists are putting their looks or lack thereof together. It didn’t look like Ashley was in a real store buying her Pleather wedding shirt. It looks like they have their own clothing warehouse. Ya think? I do.

It's weird how all the 80s TV dads had to be so metrosexual looking (later Alan Alda-esque?) that you could have imagined Dad picking up a male hooker for a quickie before coming home to Mom.

And then the 90s TV dads started, where they had to be so fat and unattractive that no one would ever be interested in them, even their wives...

Yeah, but the wives are always good looking.

And I loved Family Ties.

My favorite was the one where Jennifer wanted to hang out with the popular girls and they were all trying to decipher the phone message one of her friends left like it was in another language.

I do not think JLo was acting. I have noticed that the two new judges seem to really care about these people. If you have a heart, which Simon (whom I liked for what he did) did not, you have to get that these people see this as their One Big Chance to succeed in life. They are young and can’t be blamed for thinking this way, seeing what’s happened to other schlubs much like them, from past seasons. I think especially JLo, a fairly new Mom, remembers when she got her big start and empathizes with them.

I think that is why they wanted to be sure to get her breakdown into the aired episode, because MOST of the audience was moved by her genuine caring. These judges hugged and experienced Medina’s poor wife, a beautiful girl struck down with brain damage from a car accident — which could happen to ANYONE. WOULDN’T this wonderful husband be a hard one to cut??

Only the jaded would think this was all an act (of course my son did - how’d he get so jaded already?). of course the producers saw the show value in it, but those were real tears. She was stopping them to save her eye makeup.

I like these judges.

Well, then AI is just another typical reality show where they manipulate everyone involved to make good television.
