I agree with your four, and maybe even the order, though I am wavering on Pia. She leaves me cold, for some reason. I might put her after James.
Lauren and Scotty are a lock, I think. And after that fantastic duet together last night, I bet the Idol audience fell in love with both of them.
I loved Casey during Hollywood week—with that Bass—WOW! Lately, though, he is not doing much for me. He is good for certain, but there is something a little too campy about him.
I know them all as well. I used to eat Suzy-Qs almost every day during study hall in high school. It is a miracle I didn’t weigh 200 pounds!
BTW, I think Hostess changed it’s formula/recipe on the cupcakes. They don’t taste the same to me anymore. I think it’s the frosting.
We’ve had seasons where there were 3 or 4 really good contestants, but this year there are 5 or 6 that are really good.
This is going to be one of those seasons where one bad week could really send someone packing, if the fans don’t vote.
Some random thoughts.
We saw how strong Scotty and Lauren were with their duet. Scotty is pretty much safe and would need a disaster to not make it to the top 4.
Lauren needs to make the right song choices and calm down when she is talking with Ryan.
Pia sang that pop song last night with the other girls. Hated it. She wasn’t that good with it either so maybe that’s why she doesn’t do anything but ballads? We’ll have to see. I think Pia might pick up some of Thia’s voters, maybe. So Pia might get some help from the double elimination.
With Naima gone, that means Jacob will get Naima’s black votes. We all know from the last presidential election that some people vote based on color alone. So, he may not be going anywhere too soon. Unfortunately.
I don’t see James leaving soon either.
Paul’s voice is a deal killer. I don’t see him gaining any more fans than what he already has. People either like or hate his voice and those that hate it are not going to change their minds. His voice is so quiet, but tight and high its like he’s singing from the other end.
Stefano needs to show something soon. I’m not sure he is helped by the double elimination.
I think Casey and Haley might split votes. I don’t like the growl from Haley at all. It seem too forced.
Casey needs to do like he did this week and keep things reined in, and I would like to see him bring back an instrument.
I think they changed the twinkies too. They just don’t taste as good as they used to.
Speaking of which, what is up with the ‘white cream’ some bakeries are using these days? Tastes like crisco with powdered sugar. What happened to the Holland Creme that was so light and fluffy?
She couldn’t dance, she couldn’t sing— but she had the clown act down pat.
Her next gig should be with Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus.

I think the last two standing will be Pia and Lauren. The sing-off at the end should be very good. I see Pia winning because she has more control and more experience.

Lauren reminds me of Kelly Clarkson from season 1. She resembles her and her voice is similarly capable.
You know what I think it is? It is just her age. She can bounce around and sing, WELL. She is adorable. I really really like her. But. She doesn't own her songs, though she is miles farther along than Thia was. She is not confident, which we see when she talks, but maybe just-16s are not supposed to be that confident. She's probably perfectly normal. She should end up at #4 or #5, which for her age on AI is sensational.
I also hate the song Candle in the Wind, and it was not believable when Lauren sang it. Gay Bernie Taupin in the 42nd row who saw Marilyn as something more than sexual, believable. Little Lauren, whose grandmother was in the 42nd row, not so believable.

She BELTS too much. That is a song she can still “Celine Dion” again, just by how Pia will scream it out. I guess that is who Pia is. A gorgeous voice with ZERO creativity. ZERO. Who wants a Pia album of all those BIG BOLD SONGS? Stand too close to the speakers and become instantly infertile...
My wish for Pia? That she does a complicated song that will show the strength of her perfect voice, but she does the whole song as calmly and held back as Paul does, except for one moment in the late middle, then calms down again for a sweet, perfect finish. I’d vote for her if she could do it. Next week she’ll be belting “Mountain” so loudly that Diana Ross’s wig will shrivel in her grave.

If I want to listen to big diva ballads I’ll get out the originals, I don’t need Pia for that.
