In the good news for some and not others, the Yankees now have Tampa Bay's Rafael Soriano on their roster.
Ex Syracuse University coach Paul Pasqualoni has been named head coach of the University of Connecticut football team.
In politics, Reince Priebus elected new RNC chairman, replacing Michael Steele.

We love Aaron Rodgers here in Wisconsin.
A few months ago the Packers invited 100 boys and girls from the Boys and Girls Club in Green Bay to a local bowling area for a day of free soda, pizza and bowling with several members of the Green Bay Packers.
All the boys and girls were given a hundred dollars to buy Christmas gifts for their families.
Word eventually leaked out that Aaron Rodgers worked behind the scenes setting up the gathering, and paid for the whole thing himself.

What a wonderful thing to do. I’ve always liked him because he seems like a nice guy and handled things so well after he replaced Favre.

IMO, the superest super bowl was played last Monday night in Arizona. And the best team won. But in honor of a former poster here and also in honor of a former colleague, I am with you. Green Bay is my team.

I like Rogers, too, BUT, seeing as how I live in Northern Illinois, I’m for da Bears. (Really don’t think they have a chance, though.) However, don’t y’all want them to beat Seattle?!
;o)

In re your thought about the Commies using mental institutions to 're-educate' people who had opposing political views:
Yes, that has always been the tactics of the Left, right down to Political Correctness and Saul Alinsky -- PC sweeps whole categories of speech off the table; Alinsky's mandate was to 'polarize the target', no matter the substance of the argument.
Again, I say that without the Lamestream Media behind them, this kind of villification would be impossible. We need more Fox News Channels and more talk radio, not less.
A good book to read is The Fountainhead, in which Ayn Rand describes how in the 30's the print media were the 'king makers', and the opinion leaders within the media held the true power -- and her hero the architect didn't give a damn what they were writing and saying about him because he followed his own internal compass (a lot like Palin is now)...;-))

Wow. It sounds as though miracles were performed during K’s surgery, NY.
Prayers continue.

Yes, Palin is a good example...there are others, and they're usually on the right. Look at Reagan! People who don't like to be "herded"...
LB, I see now...thanks!
NY, that is such wonderful news.

Hi! Welcome! I was hearing something similar that Priebus was very conservative. I hope so. I'm not sure how he wants it pronounced, but we'll stay tuned and I'm sure we will hear.
One of the super encouraging things I heard about him was that where ever he had managed campaigns, he had turned the area from blue to bright red. YAY! Hope that is true.

Prayers for Kathryn’s successful recovery. That is a MAJOR operation.
Hoperully Caroly caught enough fish to feed everyone and found someone to clean them for her.

I’m trying not to talk politics on facebook, particularly since my daughter suggested that I not do so. A lot of my friends, well, I have very few friends (ha) are from Wide Awakes and here and they post conservative stuff, but my other friends dont’ see it.
I have this one friend who is a friend of my daughter also and he is very liberal. He posted raves and blissful reviews of Obama’s speech at the funer-rally and finally, I snapped and posted, “will you stop drooling?”
Then he was all hurt and called me cynical. Hah.
