Good evening!
The news & commentary continue to track yesterday's murders in Arizona. For some of the participants, it's not their finest hour, it's safe to say.
Meanwhile a strong, winter weather system moves across the Southern U.S. bringing snow and ice to places and people unaccustomed to such things.
Hope our ATRWers are safe and can keep their power. Folks are urged to stay home and not venture out.
Congratulations! How sweet it is!!!
Thanks, Tigers, for representing the SEC so well.
Good morning!
Thanks for breakfast, lysie.
Now we have explainers. They came into vogue with the murder of President Kennedy. They explained why the "real" culprit was not a self-described Marxist who had moved to Moscow, then returned to support Castro. No, the culprit was a "climate of hate" in conservative Dallas, the "paranoid style" of American (conservative) politics, or some other national sickness resulting from insufficient liberalism.Last year, New York Times columnist Charles Blow explained that "the optics must be irritating" to conservatives: Barack Obama is black, Nancy Pelosi is female, Rep. Barney Frank is gay, Rep. Anthony Weiner (an unimportant Democrat, listed to serve Blow's purposes) is Jewish. "It's enough," Blow said, "to make a good old boy go crazy." The Times, which after the Tucson shooting said that "many on the right" are guilty of "demonizing" people and of exploiting "arguments of division," apparently was comfortable with Blow's insinuation that conservatives are misogynistic, homophobic, racist anti-Semites.
On Sunday, the Times explained Tucson: "It is facile and mistaken to attribute this particular madman's act directly to Republicans or Tea Party members. But . . ." The "directly" is priceless. . . .
This McCarthyism of the leftdevoid of intellectual content, unsupported by datais a mental tic, not an idea but a tactic for avoiding engagement with ideas. It expresses limitless contempt for the American people, who have reciprocated by reducing liberalism to its current characteristics of electoral weakness and bad sociology.

The last comment, ......electoral weakness and bad sociaology is very good.
Did you get much snow, and did you go into the office yesterday?
We're getting our dose of snow later today...
Here's an update from Northern Yankee on his family:
It has been a busy and tough month. We head to Madison tomorrow for major surgery on daughter Kathryn's eye. A team of surgeons will replace her lens in her right eye, as well as other areas hurt by the car accident.
My mother was admitted to the hospital last week due to congestive heart failure. She's out now and doing better.
Keep us in your prayers.
just so wrong on so many levels, IMO
The next caller says, if Bill Bennett’s show is hate speech, there’s no room for any political speech.

Good morning, Molly.
Thanks for the NY update. Prayers for K!
Thanks for the links.
Bill Bennett incites hate? You’ve got to be kidding.
It’s the McCarthyism of the left.
Last night, Bill O’Reilly actually had the best response, so far, to this hatred. His opening monologue is posted at Hot Air.
Thank you so much, my FRiend! I am smiling this morning.
Levin's was excellent , too, as he discussed the indecency & lack of empathy for the victims and their families as certain people politicized so quickly what happened.
And picking up on some other clear thinkers, Levin pointed out that the politicizers in their haste to capitalize ignored the heroism displayed amidst the chaos.
Five in a row for the SEC!!!
Helo MKH, haven’t seen you for a while, but I’ve been MIA on this thread too. I’ll check out O’Reilley’s response, thanks for the tip.
I made it a point to watch Glenn Beck yesterday. The most striking comment he made was that NO ONE (meaning Obama primarily) stood up and and said “STOP IT! ENOUGH!” and that is true.
Jemian, congrats on your team’s victory. I’m sure you’re dancing on clouds.
Molly thanks for the links, lysie thanks for breakfast.
Northern Yankee,we are keeping you and your family in our prayers during your daughters surgery. Also for your mom. (((NY)))
There is a ladies salad lunch down at the hall today, I’m all prepared with the salad chilling in the refrig. Bible study this morning and possibly some games after the luncheon but also have a rehearsal with bandmates so not sure about that.
Have a great day everybody.
More time to savor the victory....think over the game. I was nervous the entire time. My son texted that he was heading down early to Toomer's Corner - that was *before* they tied it up 19-19. I was elated at the end but almost felt like I had run and down that field with them - I know you probably did, too.
I was proud of every single player and fan - my daughter commented that almost every Auburn fan looked "wholesome"!
I did read this a.m. that Cam injured his back in the 4th quarter... I knew he didn't look like himself - I thought the cameras were horrible (seemed like they were not close-ups like I'm used to seeing) - but I didn't see his signature smile...Hope it is just a mild problem and he will be OK.
Tell me about Toomer's when you have time.... I tried to see the live we-cam but it would not load.
Toomers was great. It was unbelievably packed. You could not move. It took me about 30 minutes to cross college from the Eagle Gates to the Bank. We were rolling everything that you could hang TP on. I parked at the First Baptist church and walked up College Street. People were coming along, yelling, screaming, hugging and just celebrating good things. I tried to wave at y'all on the ToomerCam, but it doesn't surprise me that the site crashed. People were packed all through town a block in each direction from Toomers. J & M was open (I know, that was a surprise. /s Do you remember the April 1 edition of The Plainsman when they called J & M Gypum and Capone? Too funny) selling Championship stuff and other people had shirts already printed and about an hour after I got there, there were newspapers and bumper stickers with the score just fresh from the presses.
I did not know about Cam getting hurt. Back injuries are so not good. I’m glad he has time to rest it now.
Prayers up, J.
