Sort of a grumpy day, cloudy and grey and my mind matches it too well.
Oh well, nothing new there. Guess I’ve a dose of SAD or something.
Anyway, what up here, any good gossip??? Even a little?

OHSA and the Cowboy
Twas dark the day OSHA came to the range
and as welcome as terminal itch mange
Cowboying theyd make so safe they said
and in our hearts came the knowing of dread
the horse had blinders, binders, and roll bar
and the saddle had seatbelts like a car
headlights, tail lights and the turn signals too
and a bucket to catch that odious poo
the cowboy had a helmet and face plate
body armor up to a magnum rate
the cowboys boots were now red running shoes
jeans were a jumpsuit in electric blue
Enoughs enough, so we rebelled at last
and the OSHA boys werent all that very fast
we roped them and hog tied them oh so very tight
and we got to work that dark summer night
we branded them RGI on the hip
then we pulled the piggen knot to slip
Retarded Government Idiots they was
and most didnt even have to shave fuzz
we put them in pasture safe and remote
and gave them a nice flock of cute girl goats
Well keep them there nice and safe to be sure
and once a year the clippers will whir

Yes, great book. I bought it years ago when it first came out. She is a little off on a few things but 95% of her work is right on. Her Husband was a staunch Mason and most of those, in the know, think she got a little of his Masonic secret ceremonial rites mixed in with our ancient rites. All in all though, the book is really respected in the tribe. Isn't it just great that a Woman was the very first person in our tribe to try and save the “old ways and customs” that may have been lost if not recorded. (1916)

Furry Bear by A.A. Milne
If I were a bear,
And a big bear too,
I shouldnt much care
If it froze or snew;
I shouldnt much mind
If it snowed or friz
Id be all fur-lined
With a coat like his!
For Id have fur boots and a brown fur wrap,
And brown fur knickers and a big fur cap.
Id have a fur muffle-ruff to cover my jaws,
And brown fur mittens on my big brown paws.
With a big brown furry-down up to my head,
Id sleep all the winter in a big fur bed.

Yes, they were not really called “shaman” but were Kay-gay or “Doctor”. They were healers. Rare but there were a few men that became Kay-gay (pergerk) (Doctor-man). There are still a few of our women doctors around today, very rare though. Women were not second class citizens in our tribe. True the men made the big decisions about tribal ways but they did not leave the women's input out of the decision. Also the women were the boss of the everyday life and the household. They also were allowed to sing and dance in some of the ceremonial rites.
