We’re struggling today. Maybe we’re beginning to pull it together. I’ve done a live thread.
Have a good one!
Love to see little Julian’s eyes light up at the lights :)
War turkey....lol
Congrats!
Thanks. My heart just about stopped beating. Bama is always tough and, imo, we were beat up that first half. Wow! Bama has nothing to be ashamed of.
True Story about how important this game is. I take you back to 1972, which up to today was the greatest comeback Iron Bowl ever.
I was there, just a freshman at Auburn and in the band. Frankly, we were getting beat up all up and down the field. It was a miserable, dismal. We were looking at another year of taunts and teasing from the other teams supporters whenever we went to K Mart or a tractor pull. The score at the end of three quarters was 16 0. Finally, with just 10 minutes left, we scored a field goal. At least we werent going home empty handed.
But, with 5:31 left it all changed. We held Bama to their own side of the field. Greg Gantt was poised to punt it safely away. But our Bill Newton blocked the ball back into Gantts face. David Lagner picked it up and sprinted into our endzone for the score. The PAT was good and the score was 16 -10. Not a win yet. We rejoiced for the score, but we were all expecting to lose anyway. Their next possession didnt go so hot
for them. Again, Gantt had to punt it away. AGAIN, the punt was blocked and AGAIN, David Lagner picked it up and went in to the end zone for the score. The PAT was good. There was no time left on the clock. Game over. 17 16.
That spring we music majors learned that we now had funding for a much needed new band building. It seems that our AU president had a discussion with someone prior to the game. If we won the Bama game, that someone would donate all the money to build the building. If we lost, no funding.
Because Auburn won that game in 1972, we now have the Goodwin Music Building.
True story.
Y’all pray, please, for the Bama QB. He suffered a concussion in the game today.
A friend of mine - Alabama fan big time - called me right after the game so depressed.
I only had the guts to listen to the game until the half. I thought I’d jinxed Auburn, so I turned it off and tried to forget about it.
When Carmen told me that Auburn had won the game I had to do the chicken dance all around the kitchen yelling War Eagle. Felt really glad for you and yours.
That is precisely what we did, in our kitchen, down the road, at Toomer's Corner. Horns were honking. Strangers were hugging strangers. Everyone was dancing and celebrating. Don't feel bad about turning off the game. I was tempted to do that myself.
Congrats to the Auburn family on a tremendous victory.:-)
....and y'all remember to watch the Badgers tomorrw, if you can.:)
Oh, WOW, what a game! Congratulations. Hubby and I were VERY happy with the Auburn win!
I wasn’t home, so was unable to participate on your thread.
GO SEC!!
How do you feel this morning?
We’ll be rooting for Ohio today!
Morning all. Belated thanksgiving with son, dil, and GS today. Everyone have a great day!
You have a great day, too!
Hope the back cooperates.
This morning I feel relieved and glad it is over. It was a long tiring day. My goodness. I am very glad it only comes once a year.
Next up, Steve Spurrier, again, and I guess Oregon in January. It would be nice, imo, for schools in this state to have back-to-back Heismans and Championships. That remains to be seen.
