The science-fiction genre has been around almost as long as movies themselves have.

I liked Pitch Black, but not sure I’d put it on a top 50 list. Just on a list of decent movies, like the Ghosts of Mars, or Event Horizon, or The Black Hole.
I think I’ve seen too many science fiction movies.

Did you ever watch the movie “The Labyrinth”? That was kind of a science fiction, and I believe it had muppets. Along with David Bowie.
Others :
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Soylent Green
The Fifth Element
Wall-E
Westworld
Fantastic Planet
Dark City
SCanner Darkly
Stalker
Gattaca
Logan’s Run
I consider that one to be Fantasy
For alien-on-Earth movies, how about District 9?
The best sci-fi should make us ask things about ourselves, using a sci-fi setting to help. This one definitely does.
Also the transmogrification of Maria into the robot clone.
Others:
Donnie Darko
Children of Men
The Book of Eli
Ghost in the Shell
Time Bandits
Pitch Black
I give Pitch Black credit for launching the greatest anti-hero in years, Richard B. Riddick.
Most anti-heroes in the past often were still basically good people, unlikely heroes, or heroes with flaws. Riddick is evil, a criminal, a murderer. The only thing that makes him a hero to the other characters in the films is that they have a common enemy, and Riddick tends to kill his enemies.
Jude Law is a very underated actor.
“Killer Clowns from Outer Space” - Yeah! (the stupidest movie, but it still had me seeing clowns in every shadow) and I didn’t even watch half of it!
Yeah—but the sequel really softened him up.
I enjoyed “Independence Day” as long as I didn’t think too hard about it. I guess I’ll give “I Robot” a try, too.
“Klatu Verati Nicktu” - and that’s all I’m gonna say about it!
Raquel Welch was in that. They had to shrink her extra so she wouldn't get stuck in the guy's capillaries.
Glad that it showes ‘Empire’ as the best Star Wars movie.
Yes. And I *hated* it.
I consider high comedy. I LMAO all the way through it.
