I would add Jane Olivor to the list..her interpretive abilities, and breath control are beyond amazing.. Check out her version of “I’m Always Chasing Rainbows”.. I think you’ll agree, her voice is simply marvelous!

dusty springfield How funny! After posting the Seekers above, I thought of her because of the link between the two.

Got to see Jefferson Airplane at the old Iowa Fieldhouse (basketball HQ) in 1968 or 69. My date and I had tickets for second row, center.
Noticing the size of the speakers I wanted to move back a bit but it was too late; the place was packed.
Grace Slick was LOUD and a little drunk. My ears were ringing for a week afterward.

The absence of Billie Holiday stuck out at me, too. the absence of Ella Fitzgerald is absurd. Useless list.

Jennifer Rush over Celine Dione any day My dog howwling over Celine. Never ever understood her popularity.

I forgot to add that ya’ll may also enjoy another example of Jane Olivor’s vocal skills..this is a hauntingly gorgeous version of Donovan’s old song “Lalena”..I think that you won’t soon forget Jane’s performance of “Lalena”...check it out!~

"The absence of Billie Holiday stuck out at me, too. the absence of Ella Fitzgerald is absurd. I'm not even a huge fan of Holiday's music but the quality of her voice is undeniable. My tastes run more to Lisa Gerrard, who I mentioned in another reply on this thread, Loreena Mckennitt (a hugely underrated vocalist and musician) and if you can put whacko-politics aside, I think even Sinead O'Connor deserved some consideration for this list. Like many here, I think the classically trained voice of Pat Benetar certainly deserves inclusion on this roster.

Whitney Houston doesn't belong on this list. She never did.
Whoever wrote this knows nothing about singing. Whitney yells.

She sings it as the credits roll on “Return of the King”. ‘Echoes’ of the song can be heard every time the subject of death and what happens afterwards all through out the film.

Whitney Houston doesn't belong on this list... Whoever wrote this knows nothing about singing. Whitney Houston is without doubt one of the best singers in at least the past 60 years.

I second Mama Cass for sure. Great voice. I’d also add Christine McVie.
