Last night I read an article by Dr. Paul L. Williams. In the article Dr. Williams states that the Obama adminstration will give $4 billion of our tax dollars to the UN Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and malaria. That's a 38% increase over other years. They are dreadful diseases, for sure, but at a time when many people are unemployed is that wise?
Here’s another question: Did Nobama issue an E.O. to fire the CEO of GM and to screw Chrysler and GM bondholders? By what authority?....;-))

Exactly. And I think that is precisely what he will continue to do. From my reading, he has no authority to issue EOs, beyond established laws. EOs are to be used in what the Legislative Branch has already put in place.
As to the car companies, he had NO AUTHORITY to remove the heads and to screw up the companies. Did he even do that by a written EO or did he speak and - wham! bam! - it was done.
Well, I think one of the E.O.s from the past was the one where the Prez ordered that no head of state be assassinated by a U.S. agency, and I think that is within his realm. The order to stop Louisiana Gulf offshore drilling, however, not so much...;-))
No, I don’t think he needed to do an EO on GM and Chrysler — he had Paulson and Geithner hold a gun to their heads by withholding the bailout until they got the boards to do what they wanted...which is worse (coercion/extortion) if you think about it...
You are correct. The assassination order falls within the realm of military action. The POTUS is also CinC. But the rest is NONE OF HIS AUTHORITY.

Speaking of Glenn Beck, he is facing multiple health symptomes (numbness of extremities, difficulty with his voice all) of an unknown diagnosis. He’ll be on the west coast this week having testing, if we can all remember Glenn in our prayers this week, it’d be great.

I got a freeper email with the text of what he said during his announcement that he’d be gone next week. There’s undiagnosed stuff in addition to the macular dystrophy. He mentioned the macular dystrophy and I failed to mention it in my post.
There are rumors that he has been poisoned. I can hardly believe that though. Those are the tactics of the KGB, not the US.

Quix, my Dad has been interviewed by the Kansas Historical Society 2 times and put them on DVD. I have both DVD's. Every time I see him he peels off another story. He never talked about it for many, many years until we badgered him enough to tell his stories for history. He says he still wakes up with nightmares from the war.
The story that he recently peeled off that sticks with me the most was a close call he had. I forgot exactly where they were, but they had a machine gun set up on a narrow road and it came time to move out, as they were chasing the enemy in a forested area. They had just moved the machine gun off the road and he went back to collect the ammunition belt. Just as he bent over, BOOM! A German sniper, less than 50 yards away fired one round at him. The Germans frequently left snipers behind as they retreated. He said something had to have distracted the sniper just as he pulled the trigger because there was no way he should have missed from that distance. The sniper didn't even have a chance to re-bolt another round in his rifle. The heroes watching my Dad's back took care of him.
