I hate Family Guy.
I think it is the absolute worst rubbish on television.
I won’t watch it even for Rush.

I think it was a career mistake for Rush to do this.

The Family Guy is produced by uber-libs. From what I can gather from the promo, the show will portray Rush’s listners poorly.

This show is vulgar trash, I still can’t believe Rush agreed to do this. Bad move.
That new wifey must have some influence, heh.

I agree. I find Family Guy one of the most abhorrent things on television and I am extremely disappointed in Rush for lending his name to such abject garbage! I am a huge Rush fan, but I will not watch the Family Guy, Rush or no Rush.

I've never seen the show. Hearing Rush pimp it this week because he's in it, I was all set to watch it, but after reading some of the comments here, I don't know WHAT to do.Photobucket

Is that a recent picture of Rush? He didn’t look that skinny in the video of his Rush to Excellence event in PA.

MacFarlane believes in Global Warming/tries to prove it with ridiculous uneducated statement:

http://examiner.com/environmental-policy-in-boston/more-venus-envy-from-family-guy-creator-seth-macfarlane

What is it about Venus that psuedo-scientists and enviro-liberals always point to when trying to prove their unprovable point that Earth is just a CO2-expiration away from becoming a balmy 467°C like our sister planet?

On Friday’s Real Time with Bill Maher, über-funnyman Seth MacFarlane, creator of Family Guy, got into a heated discussion with two of the other panelists over global warming. Seeing defeat in the rearview mirror, he quickly trotted out the runaway greenhouse effect on Venus, speciously comparing it to Earth’s present and future climate.

This is straight out of Al Gore’s playbook. In MacFarlane’s mind, that’s good enough for him. Sadly, the other two panelists arguing with him forgot their own basic science before Maher shut the whole discussion down. MacFarlane even made the laughable statement that Venus was once like Earth before this greenhouse effect made it inhospitable. I did say he was über-funny.

Venus rotates once every 243 Earth days (one Venusian day is 117 Earth days). It spins clockwise compared to all the other planets. It’s upper atmosphere is mostly sulferic acid. And the pressure on the surface is 92 times greater than on Earth.

We recently ran a post by Steven Goddard of Real Science on why Venus is hot and Mars is not, and if you haven’t read it, now would be a good time. Below is a pertinent snippet:

So why is Venus hot and Mars cold? Simple – it is the atmospheric pressure.

The pressure on Venus is nearly one thousand times higher than on Mars. As the atmosphere convects, descending gases warm and ascending gases cool. The amount of warming is determined primarily by the increase in pressure.

Because you never know when you’ll run into a MacFarlane or a Maher and have to educate the alarmist on Science 101.

Watch on Youtube. Pertinent clip begins at time marker 5:38. MacFarlane’s Venus envy begins at time marker 11:00.
