Sheesh. There’s one in every crowd.

My husbands’s 1998 Accord with 350,000 miles (automatic) is running fine as well. He loves that car. God help me when it dies.

3. Check to make sure that your muffler bearings are well lubricated. If they are not, that could be causing your problems.

Naw, for that model, it would be the left-handed smoke shifter, or the piston rod tensioner.

Muffler bearings were a big issue in the earlier models, but they've solved that problem by going to the widget-armed maniforms.

In my older (87 Ranger) I replaced the slave cyl and the entire clutch assy. I couldn’t get the clutch to disengage even after bleeding the hydrolic line. The problem turned out to be that NAPA had the wrong throw-out bearing in their clutch kit. The bearing wasn’t long enough to push the pressure plate far enough to dis-engage the clitch.

Needless to say it took quite a bit of time to figure this out. If you end up taking the clutch apart, compare the old components to the new.

After thinking on your problem for a while, I have decided that the problem with your Explorer is a broken turbo encabulator.
