It can't be posted on FR, apparently by a decree of the media police or that which serves the same purpose in a "free" country.
But I think it's legal to link to it: '''' ''' ''''' ''''' '' '''' '''...
What is this?
Looks like some poster wanted to waste not only his time, but ours.
if one doesn't read the article then, yes, his time is wasted.
Of course in your case, I think it's wasted either way.
The free market solution to your dilemma is to simply click away from what you find yourself unable to grasp, rather than investing the precious moments of your priceless life to leave some vacuous comment.
Shouldn't you be looking at porn?
Wow! Now I have to read Telab’s book!
Good article
Worth the read.
Also see Benoit Mandelbrot's "The Misbehavior of Markets".
It's enough to make you nervous about index funds.
Beyond that, the format - a non-link - seems a novel strategy.
I put it off for a long time, simply because everyone was saying "you have to read it."
It's probably worth it. I might read it again, in fact.
geezus somebody needs to round up the escapees and keep them safe.
Liberal multi-culturalists in the financial industry think highly of Nasim Taleb and his books. Like paying lip service to environmentalism and vacationing in the right spots, the ability to discuss Taleb’s writings is a kind of requirement for membership in that world. Having Taleb criticize Obama is big. . . . it gives these people cover to abandon the Onee.
Yes...I looked it up in Wikipedia and it looks fascinating.
A pleasant surprise to see that Mandelbrot at 85 years young is still publishing!
About thirty years back I recall pecking in a Mandelbrot Generator on a S-100.
Hours to generate one graph in glorious green!
The workstation that I’m now using could crank them out in extreme high resolution color in a blink!
Thanks that one will have to go on my stack.
I read something Mand. wrote in my “youth.” (Maybe I read the cover.) I believe that was it. Lotsa high falutin ideas. Fun to program. Maybe you can bat near .500 over the lifetime of your fund with stuff like. But I doubt it.

I’ve not read it, but I saw an interview with Taleb when the “Black
Swan” book came out. It should be a good read. I think he has appeared
occassionally on CNBC as well.
Two side notes for the general forum:
1. Although “Taleb” sounds a lot like “Talib” (as in Taliban), I think
he mentioned that he is Christian.
2. The “Black Swan” phrase originated from assumption that Europeans had
that there were only white swans...because that was all they’d ever
seen “back home”.
When the Europeans arrived in Australia they freaked out when they
saw black swans. In other words, an totally unexpected and freakish
occurence that weirded them out.
