In a recent blog post, Dr. R. Albert Mohler, Jr. president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, examines the argument that practicing yoga may be in direct conflict with the values of Christianity. "Yoga begins and ends with an understanding of the body that is, to say the very least, at odds with the Christian understanding," Mohler writes.

If Albert Mohler is right, God makes you practice yoga, or not. Predestination. If God predestines you to be a pretzel, a pretzel you will choose to be, and you cannot stop it.
Think of it as ‘irresistible pain’...
Most exercise is evil.
When I went to India, the Christians there actually went out of their way to tell me that Yoga was incompatible with Christ. Dr. Mohler is not saying something new. They are not stupid or ignorant. They simply accept that yoga has a spiritual element that is not of Christ.
Now the dark side of Yoga. Satan and the third of angels which fell with him just love, love this vain and foolhardy quest for self enrichment. Satan delights in us pondering our navels and searching for self enlightenment. I advice you read Hostage to the Devil by Malachi Martin. He has a nice segment in his book about a college professor who arrogantly stumbled forth in the world of Hindu occultism, and Yoga and wound up tormented by demonic forces. All serious followers of Yoga will after a while be buffeted by these malevolent spirits. You stumble around, in the dark, with your incoherent mutterings , mantras and sweaty poses and you are on your own. Like the mouse playing with the cat. I have been to India and the whole country is under a dark cloud, it;s about as evil a place as I have experienced. Not talking Iran type in the street evil, but a land empty of G*ds grace where Satanic Paganism is the norm. If you want truth and meaning in your life, get down on your knees and ask Christ into you heart and with the gift of the Holy Spirit read and meditate on his Word. All you need to know in there, the blueprint for life, why we are here, how to cope, find meaning, find purpose. More productive that sitting around, sweating like a pig, ultimately worshipping a fallen angel who can't wait to destroy you.
Our number system was invented by the Hindus: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. Do you use those evil Hindu numbers?

While I agree 100% with you, there are many unusual things that happen in a person’s life when that Holy spirit moves in. Just as happened and is described in the New Testament.
I truly feel we are entering(and in) the times described in Acts 2 where Peter was quoting the prophet Joel.

As with anything done without the power of the Holy Spirit, it is just exercise and mechanical. Fasting while praying and meditating on the Word (actually thinking about God as David did) is a spiritual discipline blessed by God with an intimacy and communion not experienced by the unbeliever.
By that reasoning any physical fitness program would be at odds with Christianity.
Albert Mohler is no nutcase. He is very sound and if you listened to his radio program you would be better informed about current issues of the day. I haven’t read the whole article but I bet you detractors have not either. I am familiar with him and he is good.
