I will be handling this thread on a temporary basis only, and as time and health permits. You people are used to - and deserve - more. Hopefully, someone more qualified will step up and take this over. :)

Survivor: Nicaragua is the 21st season of Survivor. It will moving to Wednesday nights this season. In fact, it begins tonight, September 15, 2010, 8/7c.
The theme this season will be Young vs Old. The players will include a former NFL coach (Jimmy Johnson) and an amputee triathlete champion (Kelly Bruno).
From Wikipedia:
Survivor host Jeff Probst, has also announced that the Hidden Immunity Idol will continue to be used in the game. However, as idols have been found too easily the past two seasons (most often by Russell Hantz), or as the show's producers have dubbed it, "The Russell Factor", the idol will be hidden differently. The clues to the idols' locations will be visual rather than written as in past seasons. In addition, the tribes will be vying for control of a new item, the Medallion of Power, that, when used, gives an advantage in a challenge, but is then transferred to the other tribe.
Let's meet the players.
Here are photos of the players.
Listed below are links to player profiles. They include a video clip of the player, which is, unfortunately preceded by a short - but annoying - ad.
La Flor (age: 30 and under)
.
Espada (age: over 40)
Add me ES.
Thanks
I’ve been calling her “Nookie”. But you’ve inspired me. Now I’m thinking “A-Hola”.
I caught that too. What a hoot.
On the young team: IMO none of the men, except for maybe Sash and Ben, are that bright. Brenda and Kelly B are pretty sharp. The team should have bounced NaOnka or the shoe drowning woman - they are not that bright and are also unstable - instead of Shannon who, of course should have kept his mouth shut.
On the older team: Jimmy J and the ER doctor are very sharp. Jimmy T is not. Can’t tell about Danny and Marty is bright but not as bright as he thinks he is.
There is too much emphasis in more or less private discussions and in voting on getting rid of those perceived as threats when, this early in the game, they should be getting rid of the members who hurt team performance/cooperation - the unstable and/or troublemakers.
Leadership battles should wait until later in game - IMO.
LOL! That works too. She’s obviously never watched Survivor before or just doesn’t give a hoot. You start going off on other tribemates and your days are numbered. I do hope it’s soon for her.
I want to see a Survivor: Downtown Detroit (or Gary) and a Survivor: Camden NJ.
Or how about a Survivor: Haiti!
Or a more focused Survivor: Christians in Indonesia ... Or Survivor: Jewish in Gaza.
Survivors in DC will be airing in November.
This thread is going to be a team effort. Please feel free to post Survivor related items to this thread.
Voted out last night: Shannon
Combined Reward and Immunity challenge winner: Espada
Espada Tribe (blue buffs - older team): Dan, Holly, Jane, Jill, Jimmy J, Jimmy T, Marty, Tyrone, Yve
La Flor Tribe (yellow buffs - younger team): Alina, Benry, Brenda, Chase, Jud "Fabio", Kelly B, Kelly S, NaOnka, Sash
Losers: Shannon, Wendy
Medallion of Power status: Played by Espada. Therefore, the Medallion is automatically transferred to La Flor.
Immunity Idol status - Espada: In possession of Marty, Jill, and Dan (?).
Immunity Idol status - La Flor: Alina & Kelly B found clue but have not yet deciphered it.
CBS.com links don't always load on the first attempt. If they don't, keep trying. I try to remember not to post a link until I've tested it in the preview mode.
Jeff Probst blogs 'Survivor: Nicaragua': Episode 2

This is a new Survivor ping list. The old list is no longer available, so I would appreciate it if any of you could ping interested parties to this thread. Thank you. :)
If you wish to be added to or removed from it please let me know.
I will be handling this thread on a temporary basis only.
I forgot about Jeff’s Blog. Thanks for reminding me. It will now be a regular feature on the pings. :)
I think the pre-merge episodes are going to be some real keepers this season.
Thanks for doing the heavy lifting.
What do you think?
From E! Online: Survivor: Nicaragua Eliminee on Gay People: "I'm Not the Judge, God Is"
From Reality Wanted: Survivor: Nicaragua - Exclusive Interview with Shannon Elkins
It will be interesting to see Jeff with Shannon at the reunion. :)
From one of the articles
“....Shannon Elkins insists asking Sash about his sexuality was all about honesty, not homophobia, and that the beginning of their discussion was edited out of the program. “They kept trying to tell me I wasn’t honest. Sash kept blasting me so finally I’d had enough......”
Everyone knows TC is edited. When I was watching TC I was asking myself “Where the heck did that question come from?”
Shannon’s big mistake was targeting the Queen first. He should have let them make eyes for each other until the next TC while targeting one of the lesser players on the “other side”.
Did you notice this comment in his interview?
When Sarah Palin runs for president, I'm voting for Sarah. I'll wear a Palin T-shirt to the Survivor finale. With 'I Love New York' on the back. I know they got a bunch of diversity over there, [I was just] stereotyping. Everybody does it.

Oops!
Yes. I saw that.
Shannon is entertaining. I greatly prefer him to A-Hola (thanks, Lee’sGhost). I prefer everybody to A-Hola.
Jimmy Johnson
What do you folks think of Jimmy Johnson? I'm not a football fan at all, although I certainly have heard of him.
I'm quite impressed with his leadership ability so far.
I think Jeff is right on target for calling out Marty and Jimmy T on their envy of Jimmy J, here and here.
Now, to whet your appetite before Wednesday, be sure to check out the CBS site for videos and other features.
And as always, please feel free to post Survivor related items to this thread.

Of course JJ is a leader. He’s a pro football coach. His career is all about motivating people. I like his role in this game. Looking forward to watch Weds with my sweetie..
