Did Boudica live near Norwich? (Celtic Anglo Alert)
Eastern Daily Press, UK ^ | August 19, 2010 | Dan Grimmer

Archaeologists are set to unearth further secrets of a Roman town on the outskirts of Norwich - and are hoping to discover evidence linking the settlemt to East Anglia's Iceni queen Boudica.

Channel 4's Time Team will be filming the excavations at Caistor St Edmund, which are the first within the Roman walls of the site for 75 years.

The Roman town of Venta Icenorum lies beneath the fields at the site but historians believe it might have been built on top of a previous Iceni settlement - perhaps even the home of the warrior queen Boudica.

Why is this important? Because this was centuries before Islam.

Britain (the Celts, actually) have a history of strong leadership by women, Boudica, Queen Maeve in Ireland (possibly mythic but still a powerful symbol, see the Irish Punt note below), Elizabeth I, Victoria, Maggie Thatcher, etc. How appropriate it would be if it is a woman who eventually leads Britain to expel the Middle Eastern vermin infesting their shores.

In my genealogy, it is often the women who have all the data of birth, place, death, place and their “spouses” often have a date of birth of “about” and no place given except maybe a country.

Of course, we’re talking about records earlier than 1000 AD, though there are quite a few after that.

In that case, I’ve got the skull of Julius Caesar for sale, as well as over 20,000 pieces of the True Cross.

As interesting as the life and accomplishments of Boudicca are, it appears that she was a poor military tactician, allowing her army to be surrounded. However, I fail to see the connection you draw from her to Islam. Can you explain?

A satirical nod at the role of women in early history (BC) as compared to how women were treated as chattel under 7th century Islamic society and Sharia law.

I have a barrel full of nails from the True Cross. Of course, I've forgotten where I put them.
