YAY!!!! Free Republic is finally working correctly on my end after driving me nuts for weeks! I thought that getting my new Mac would help and it didn't at all.The home page finally has pictures again and pages load quickly (versus excrutiatingly slow page loads)! I am so happy! I was just about fed up enough to abandon FR and go back to Lucianne (which led me here to start with 10 years ago)! Thanks to whomever fixed FR!!
It only has double posts if you don’t wait long enough before hitting that Post button again. Try erasing the cache and the cookies.
What browser are you using? I’ve been using Firefox for years and it’s gotten so bloated (and add-ins don’t help...) I finally pulled the plug and went to Opera. Like night and day...
Hmmmm.....Firefox. Guess that’s my problem.
Are you logged in?
No, the monthly newsletter said we didn't have to do that anymore.
Keep up, will ya?! :)
First, check your add-ins. If there’s some you don’t need, uninstall/disable them. See how much that improves speed.
If it’s still slow, download and install Opera, but leave Firefox installed until you test it. Opera operates a little differently and there’s a slight learning curve, but it’s worth it for the speed (it’s a much lighter browser without all the extra code). If you do install it, let me know and I’ll go over some finer points...
Any thoughts on Ubuntu?
I like that
I've tested it and like it, but if you're computer challenged you'll want someone good to install it. It needs it's own hard drive partition, which is a different type of partition than Windows uses (Fat 32 or NTFS). And much of your software (Windows based) won't work without additional software that will allow it to run as a shell over Ubuntu. For the person who's looking for simple computing, it's not something I'd recommend...
I'm here if you need help on Opera. I may not be able to handle some inquiries but I can cover the basics... I'll be back in the early afternoon. Golf awaits...
are you sure you were logged in?

Thanks!
It’s you. I haven’t had a lick of trouble with it. (Toshiba Satellite, Win 7, Verizon broadband)
You should have bought a Dell, Dude.
I just got out of the shower...did I miss anything?
