All American women want to wear a tiara, but those old standards of beauty dont work for very many of them any longer. In fact, far fewer American women could be objectively called beautiful than a mere 30 years ago, when the fat epidemic had just begun.
Enter the Miss Plus America pageant, a competition specifically for plus women. Now, American women can eat their way to the championship, scarfing down potato chips and chugging soda pop to put them in the running for beauty queen.
Im kind of curious as to why plus is the term employed. Is it supposed to suggest that its somehow desirable, as in thats a plus? Maybe it simply sounds better than Miss Fat America, but euphemisms have a way of becoming terms of ridicule, so it will probably backfire soon enough.
Personally, I dont have a problem with curvy women, naturally big women, etc. But its obvious that these women have a great deal of body fat, and are technically obese. Obesity isnt beautiful, and it isnt healthy. Our aim should be to eradicate not celebrate obesity. However, it seems that these womens desire to be celebrated matters more than a national crisis that is seeing children develop type II diabetes, and adults die prematurely from weight-related diseases.

She has toes?
“if D-cups would send a woman toppling, shes not built enough for my tastes.”
In that case, they’re usually fake anyway;) I don’t like that “recently freed from the Gulag” look either, OTOH I don’t think obesity is cool. There has to be a balance.
ouch.... there goes my man card... but in my defense, the 11th toe is what redirected my attention to the other 10. Just sayin’.
Are you suggesting that there are homosexuals in the fashion industry!? Or Hollywood!? Who knew?
And right back atcha.

Coco, is she curvy enough?
Ample in our day but Rubens would have said: Who’s the skinny broad?
Christina Hendricks would agree.
“Oh, I’m going to the SPECIAL hell.”
That’s Christina Hendricks, who had a recurring role on “Firefly” and can currently be seen on “Mad Men”.
