Every black hole may hold a hidden universe
New Scientist ^ | July 23, 2010 | Anil Ananthaswamy

WE COULD be living inside a black hole. This head-spinning idea is one cosmologist's conclusion based on a modification of Einstein's equations of general relativity that changes our picture of what happens at the core of a black hole.

In an analysis of the motion of particles entering a black hole, published in March, Nikodem Poplawski of Indiana University in Bloomington showed that inside each black hole there could exist another universe (Physics Letters B, DOI: 10.1016/j.physletb.2010.03.029). "Maybe the huge black holes at the centre of the Milky Way and other galaxies are bridges to different universes," Poplawski says. If that is correct - and it's a big "if" - there is nothing to rule out our universe itself being inside a black hole.

In Einstein's general relativity (GR), the insides of black holes are "singularities" - regions where the density of matter reaches infinity. Whether the singularity is an actual point of infinite density or just a mathematical inadequacy of GR is unclear, as the equations of GR break down inside black holes. Either way, the modified version of Einstein's equations used by Poplawski does away with the singularity altogether.

I LOVE all this “could” and “maybe” crap that passes for news.

The sky COULD start falling this afternoon.

If he isn’t careful, Columbus COULD sail over the edge of the earth.

Congress MAYBE considering restoring the Constitution as the supreme law of America.

(Now, THAT’S science fiction!!)

Believers worship God, scientists worship equations. With them, equations are everything. Equations predict the future. Equations foretell time travel. Equations are life.

Someone had better tell them that equations are made by man to describe the world, and if they don’t describe the world correctly, the equations are faulty.

A singularity is also where space and time cease to exist.... the place where “our” physics breaks down. Based on that, ANY claim of what resides within the non-existent space of a black hole is valid.... coule be all lime Jello with nuts and whipped cream.

Well, they almost got it right.

Black Holes are not just Gates between Universes.

Black Holes create other Universes.

Our Universe was created by a Black Hole. Now it is creating others. Matter flows out of our Universe, through black holes, because there is an imbalance in energy. We have a lot, and it literally bursts out of it’s shell trying to get some breathing room. All that mass and energy has to go ‘somewhere’, and that ‘where’ is in building new Universes.

Now, all of this is dependent on the Universe being finite, which I do not accept, because the word Universe is defined (or was) as ‘infinite’.

Besides, a black hole is like a Sunspot. Many think a sunspot is what shoots Solar Flares at the Earth. It doesn’t. It is merely a dark area, and cooler, and indicates a loss of energy (loss of connection of a magnetic/plasma field line). The field line when it snaps, acts like a whip and flings crap outward.

So, a Black Hole may actually indicate a loss of energy.
Because it is a loss of energy.
And it may appear cooler than surrounding matter.
Which it does.

A black hole may just be what is necessary at the center of a galaxy, to dissipate the intense heat, and keep it from setting up a chain reaction that would quickly destroy the galaxy.

Do any of them have a liberal-free environment inside?

If so put my family and me on the next ship outta here.

Black Holes are not just Gates between Universes.

Of course not. They're gates between universities. ;-)

Heard another theory once that a black hole in this universe is the other side of a quasar in another universe, and the converse.

That's another one of those things, that, seems completely logical, doesn't it?

Assuming there is such a thing as 'another' Universe. Or a black hole.

-- That's a pretty big MAYBE! --

I just realized something about how bizarre physical reality is.

At one end of the mass density spectrum, "perfect vacuum," physicists note that matter and energy can just "pop" into existence. One moment, nothing there, the next moment, something.

At the other end of the mass density spectrum, what we refer to as a black hole (not at the event horizon, where quantum effects assert some evaporation of energy/mass), the notions of "space" and "time" don't even exist.

The realization became that there is less to a black hole, than there is to empty space.

This is a joke, right? Since Obama got elected, we’ve been in the deepest hole in the universe.

And thanks to his moronic budget, it’s getting deeper all the time.

That’s very noble sentiment on your part the wish to explore time and space, However like most people if I had a TARDIS the first thing I would do is use it to win the lottery! /LOL
