Very interesting. I read they found a large anchor buried nearby as well. Wonder what else is buried in that city?!

They destroyed the WTC more than 8 years ago. It took just less than 5 years to build the entire WTC back in 1966. It took 2 years to build the Empire State Building with simple technology compared to what we have today. The muslims are getting ready to build a 100 million dollar mosque right across the street to celebrate their 9/11 accomplishment which will be standing in less than two years. Now someone has found a pile of wood that used to be a boat that was scraped there. Isn't there a front end loader on the site? I can drive it if no one else can. I can get that pile of wood out of there in 5 minutes. What the hell has happened to us?

Empire State Building

“Excavation of the site began on January 22, 1930, and construction on the building itself started symbolically on March 17—St.Patrick’s Day—per Al Smith’s influence as Empire State, Inc. president. The project involved 3,400 workers, mostly immigrants from Europe, along with hundreds of Mohawk iron workers, many from the Kahnawake reserve near Montreal. According to official accounts, five workers died during the construction. Governor Smith’s grandchildren cut the ribbon on May 1, 1931.”

Did you miss that if this becomes an historical dig, there can be no mosque?

Thanks gleeaikin for the link in FReepmail, looks like it's been posted! Thanks JPB for posting it.

So, either this is the hull of the Amistad, or it's the smoking gun proof that Moslems first discovered the United States. ;')

If they build the mosk, I’m hoping that it’s liberally smeared with pig offal and fat and blood inside the walls. People are in a righteous high dudgeon over this, and I don’t think the building will go unscathed for long.

The Empire State Building was built in quicker time and the technology was not advance as compared the World Trade Center. The parts for the World Trade Center had to fix exactly together and come at the right time. Also, the World Trade Center was built by the Port Authority, unlike the Empire State Building.

Interesting. Really makes you wonder what else is in that fill.

But, how much is there to learn about the design of 18th century vessels? It's not like they're some unknown from 3000 yrs ago. I'm not saying that it wouldn't be informative to do a careful and full excavation and examination, but it does seem funny to get excited over a relatively modern hulk that was seen fit only for use as landfill.
