This is not an important question and you can ignore it if you wish.
I have been listening to Rush Limbaugh since 1998 ( only when I can of course), but for the life of me cannot understand why he does the following ( I am sure he has reasons but I've never heard him explain it ) :
* When he mentions Jesse Jackson, he never used the name : "Jesse Jackson", but almost always says -- The Reverend Jackson, in a very strange tone, as if trying to sound very respectful ( I can't quite describe it. Experienced listeners will understand ).
* Where on earth is Rio Linda and why does he refer to that place everytime he mentions some important FACTOID that we all should know...
* Why does he mock the Former Secretary of Labor's name everytime he uses it as in ROBERT REICHSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS ( lasting about 10 seconds ).
Let's start with the above 3 first and I'm sure I have other Limbaugh mannerisms I'd like to ask about later.
Thanks.

Rush got his real start in Sacramento, CA on KFBK. Rio Linda is a very down-market ‘suburb’ of Sacramento, if you can say something that nice about it. I’ve been there. It was awful in the days Rush lived in the area and never improved in all the years afterward. It might be nice now, I guess: I won’t return to CA without a court order.
It was probably the closest thing to a trash neighborhood in the Sacto area at the time (you know, where the locals have their car broken down in parts on cinder blocks in the front yard? I lived in Sacto for many years, somewhat to the east in Carmichael). So, when Rush restates something said in relatively educated English, he then dumbs it down and says he’s doing so so that people in Rio Linda can understand him. One could substitute any really poorly-educated community in its place.

Jealous of what?
Is any criticism or mocking of Limbaugh automatically attributed to jealousy?
If you criticise or mock Obama does that mean you are jealous?

I think that the man loves everything about himself. He always says a person needs to like him/herself and be comfortable in his/her own skin. Some call it arrogance. He calls it self confidence.

When Clinton was running, Rush began lampooning him as if he were Dr. Frankenstein, and naturally, the Doctor would need an assistant. Mostly, it was a hunchback named Igor (or Eyegor), so Algore. get it?

You obviously have not listened to Rush as long as you say you have. A few weeks of listening and the answers to your questions would be clear.

Usually when someone critisizes a sucessful decent person, they are envious. As far as Obama, he deserves the critism. He earns it. Am I jealous? Hell yeah! Who wouldn’t be jealous of someone who gets to ride on a fancy plane, ride around in limos, has their own top notch security detail, lives in a mansion, vacations in all the best spots, throws fabulous parties, plays golf whenever they want to, and gets other people to do their job all at the taxpayers expense?

Robert Reich had a television show at one point and he pronounced his name in German fashion, with a gutteral sound, rather than with a k-sound, as most Americans might.
When I took German, they said it was the sound formed in English by the words "a human" where the a and h meet. Rush is suggesting that this is pretentious.

If you were listening to Rush for 12 years as you so state, you know very well the answers to the questions you so innocently broached.
You are either a Ditto Head baiter or you were born and raised in Rio Linda.
The possibility also exists that you are in a padded room somewhere catching and eating flies.
You did make for an interesting thread, though. Keep up the good work, Renfield, my man.

Well fine.
I’m free to mock Limbaugh.
Mostly I do so because it stirs up the folks who worship him.
He’s just an entertainer, a voice on the radio.
Not a savior or a means to salvation. Or even a leader.
He’s a member of the media. Never trust the media. Mock the media.
If it bothers you, tough toodles.

Did you say something, fag boy? I'm touched that you would speak to me the same way you talk to your children.
Now fly away, little fairy, fly away.
You give your kids different advice than I do. But hey.. who am I to judge?

Well, if you choose to interpret it as such.
I do to a large extent. I realize entertainers have certain issues simply because they're entertainers; it's pretty much a prerequisite. Rush wouldn't have the troubles with marriages and drugs otherwise.
However, the egotistical part of the comedic material he broadcasts is in my opinion a far sight from how he actually perceives himself and especially his audience.
I don't understand how anybody can take that "half my brain tied behind my back, Atilla The Hun chair" stuff seriously, given the people he's lampooning every day. He is purposefully trying to infuriate the people whose politics are essentially their religion. And by the looks of it he does an excellent job of it.

"* Why does he mock the Former Secretary of Labor's name everytime he uses it as in ROBERT REICHSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS ( lasting about 10 seconds ). Not sure why."Because Reich himself used to emphasize his name, making sure people understood that it was "Reissssssch," and not "Rike."

Yep, an either or thinker and nothing in between.
I have a life and do not spend all 3 hours a day listening to Rush. I only listen to him when I happen to catch him while driving back and forth from work to get my lunch ( which is about 30 minutes a day ). Why should I know the answers to the above questions if I don't happen to catch him giving his explanations during my drive ?
Also, regarding what you think is the allegedly "obvious" answer to the my questions, Just scan the many divergent answers in this thread and you will see that not everyone agrees as to the reasons why Rush says what he says.
I don't have to give any explanations to you as to who I am and what I believe politically. I know what I believe, and my many posts in the past bear it out.

I have an INKLING of what he is doing. I posted this in order to elicit other people's opinion.
Just look at the many divergent responses to my question and you will see that not everyone agrees on why he said what he said.
For instance, some say he is mocking Jesse Jackson's self-important reference to himselfm, others say that he is emulating Bull Buckley. I am sure many of these responders have been listening to him for years. Yet, they don't all agree.
So nope, what you think is obvious is not so obvious.

Just as long as you understanmd that deducing can sometimes be wrong, I'm OK with that.
