It looks like a narrow escape for one of mankind's most ancient symbols. A bolt of lightning illuminates the sky around the 2,500-year-old Parthenon temple, high on the Acropolis during a heavy rainfall in Athens early this morning. Fortunately, the temple is believed to have escaped any damage ( more at link)

The Vietnam Memorial in Washington DC gives me that same feeling.

Ive been to a fair number of interesting places in the world...the Parthenon was one of them. Im not a big George Noory guy, but to me it was palpably ridden with spirits. I was thirteen when I visited the Parthenon, so I didn't feel anything.
And like you, I'm not given to that sort of thing, but I have felt that feeling very strongly in a couple of places in Iraq. Very dark...

I look forward to visiting it. I wish the crime was lower there.

Interesting [the spirits thing]
I didn’t feel any animus or anything malevolent in the spirits I felt within the Parthenon or at Gettysburg. I just felt like I was a fish, swimming in a school of fish, except the other fish were invisible and flying around in every which way instead all in one direction.

There isn't much crime in the area of the DC monuments. Go during daylight hours -— lots of people around—just be aware of your surroundings.
Take the Metro red line from Montgomery Co, MD or the orange line from Virginia to the Mall area and you will be fine. It is well worth the trip. Very solemn, very moving, very emotional.

I think photographers and others are taking renewed interest in the Parthenon since restoration work was finished a year or so ago and the restoration work scaffolding was removed...
