What my plan was when I created the ZOT
(and how I ended up) ^ | June 28, 2010 | Lord Dagon

Posted on 06/28/2010 12:43:57 PM PDT by DagonofAlbion

I deposit the Risk into the account of a dummy finance company for management, called the republican party.

Then, I deposit the damage into the account of a dummy corporation for control, called the democratic party.

I leave all the bible belt religions as spoilers, or third parties; putting them down as department store chains. To stave off the profit into the mints money burning facility, to insure that the money is worthless in terms of pragmatic value, and is only practical believed values.

And the Black market is pimped as bad but, even losing even your kindeys in a hotel bathtub on a drunk, is a value laundering scheme...

Thank you all for your input and participation!!!

Unfortunately, I never know when I’m going to be too sick to do something, but I’ve learned to live with it. Those are the days of the “one-can meals.” If that. I DO try to keep soup on hand, for when nothing else will stay down.

Those could be my odd acidy days... ;o]

LOL. I need to break up a fight about the chips. What part of “outside” didn’t they understand?

It could be the “out” part of the side. You know how the byos are!

"She does, certainly, um, stand out. Funny that photo didn’t load at work... *\;-)"

From what I've seen, she looks good at all angles.

"People assume because I am very large, wear a cowboy hat and dirty boots, and am still an active weightlifter that I am stupid."

That seems related to the point I was trying to make. That for me, what you say and do, even slowly, determines my attitude about you, not the organizations to which you belong.

I like to think that I can learn from anyone, even if the lesson to be learned is, "don't go there".

Further, I don't mind having someone speak slowly, as long as they have composed their thoughts well. What I don't appreciate is having every third word be either "uh" or "f***".

Afternoon. Mostly packed for the trip, except clothes.

Waiting for LoM to get home so we can load the boats and bikes.

Is it a vacation, this time?
Back to the mountains where you had so many health/allergy problems last year?

Have fun! Wherever you’re going.

You have FReepmail on this, in part, but... it's a church campout for folks across our westernmost diocese -- and others who care to come too; last year we had a Roman Catholic family join our happy band of heretics. I'm guessing they are friends of somebody present.

We'd have invited Anoreth (she'd get to see some of the truly gorgeous LeftWing-Coast scenery you'll never see from a boat) but it's a long swim from wherever she is right now.

I'm not sure how high up this camp is elevation-wise, but it's the other side of the north-central grass-farm region of Oregon that triggered my allergy/bleeding problems last year. The bad news is that the A/C just went out on the Seumas Ruaraidh so I'm going to have to tough it out, whatever they're doing there tomorrow. The good news is that the cauterization done after my return should prevent the bleeding problem; I usually have a few major bleeds when allergy season starts and this year I had only one very minor one.

Well. You certainly are brave! FReepmail answered.

Your church campout does sound fun, though. It’s been so long since I’ve camped out, I would probably be a liability. Though I have been known to roast a turkey in a firepit, I don’t recommend it for “beginners.” It’s an all day job!

When do you leave?

Have a wonderful time, and I hope you’ve got no health problems this year.

We just got back from the pool. It was in the 90s outside, but the water is much cooler after 3 days of clouds and thunderstorms.

Oh, it IS fun and certainly requires a skillset FAR below roasting a turkey in a firepit. Mostly if you can feed yourself from food set in front of you, or have someone who can assist you, you're in! It helps if you can toast or burn marshmallows, but that's not even a requirement. (And participation in church-related activities is 100% optional, something our teens take major advantage of.)

Hey, maybe we can bring you out next year if you don't mind us Anglican heretics. We now have a selection of tents to choose from, from the youngest sionsareen's tent (haven't seen it yet but it's hers -- she's moved out of the family tent don'cha know), to the big more-than-two-man dome tent we're using this year (because the youngest sionnsareen has moved out), up to the three-ring-circus, um, three-room Sears tent my family has had for almost a half-century.

Nobody's a liability in our camps, and you definitely don't have to be Anglican. Whaddya think?

We leave tomorrow. LoM was suggesting 4 AM, I'm countering with 7 AM. With actual departure, guessing, about 8 AM.

I anticipate losing all Internet connectivity about 3 PM, not to be regained until about about 1:30 PM Sunday if I'm not driving.

I hope you enjoy your time without internet connectivity. Safe driving and safe camping. Watch out for wildlife!

That sounds like so much fun!! Count me in!! I can roast a marshmallow to DIE for!!

And since I sleep on the floor (TC can attest to this) sleeping on the ground can’t be any worse.

I look forward to it!! As for Anglican heretics...some of my best friends are heretics!! *snort* I’ve even been known to attend religious meetings. :o]

I just remembered an interesting item they had on “Antiques Roadshow” the other night. An elderly lady - 80s, probably - had a copy of “The Pearl of Great Price,” printed in Liverpool in 1851. Her grandfather or great-grandfather had brought it from England when he joined the LDS and moved to the US.

The appraiser said there were many old copies around, but this particular one was only the second one he’d seen with the original paperback covers largely intact, and with the original fold-out illustrations intact. It was worth around $50,000!

I should live so long.
When my dad died, my mother sold or gave away all of his books, including his theological and doctrinal volumes. My brother in AZ and I are both upset by that. There was so much to be learned, since he didn’t just read about Mormonism.
A few years ago, I was given his Bible; it had a paper cover and was filled with his marginal notes. I gave it to my son.

“That seems related to the point I was trying to make.”

Kind of.

I joked, but I am sure Doda’s reasons for joining MENSA was the same as mine: credibility to strangers.

People assume she’s an idiot because she also happens to be absurdly sexually attractive. Letting people know she was in MENSA is a way of being taken seriously.

Similarly, people have to trust me with multi-million dollar well drilling operations -— operations that can go very, very wrong (witness: BP).

A New York hedge fund guy looking at me sees a big, dumb, cowboy. Probably got that engineering degree playing football (which I did, summa cum laude).

The MENSA line on the bottom of the resume adds a certain gravitas that, no, I am not a dumbass.

It opens doors that would otherwise be closed.
