Losing friends over Palin (Have you ever lost friends over politics ?)

I have lost THREE real life friends now in trying to defend Sarah Palin. On one hand I tend to think the people who call her stupid are not the kind of people I even want as friends anyhow. However, I wonder if im being too harsh and going too far.

I know our country was divided on President Bush. But the division and the hatred for Sarah Palin has been able to top anything. Before Palin, I had a much more positive outlook on people (especially women, mothers, ect) and life in general. Now I find myself seeing people through a totally different lens.

I understand why I am so outraged as a husband and father of two girls. But what is wrong with WOMEN in this country ? they have really let Sarah Palin and her family down by not standing up enough and drawing a line in the sand.

What did Sarah Palin ever do to be hated and polarizing ?

I think she wants to be President. What did she do that was so terrible ? ?Will she have to take all of this to her grave with her ?

The way I see it. If they have succeeded in destroying her. There are other Sarah Palins out there who will turn away from politics. And that is a terrible thing for this country.

Let me tell you right now. I have dreamed of being in politics. I have dreamed of being President since I was a little kid. If Sarah Palin is too “polarizing” to be President, I would have no chance in hell to be anything. Because I am passionate. If you are right, why in the hell should I enter politics ? Why would any conservative ?

what is the point of asking WHY? It IS what it IS. She IS a polarizing figure. It’s lamentable that they attacked and demonized her. We can analyze it 9 ways to Sunday, but what would be the point of it, it’s reality. It’s UNJUST, that’s a given. Yes, it will serve as a deterrent to others seeking office. Again— lamentable, unjust etc. It’s reality. will she have to take it to the grave? probably not. She is young and has plenty of time to do things, make her mark etc. and time may soften how she is perceived.
i am just telling you what i see. people i know who are NOT liberals, not particularly politically inclined at all, but who vote republican, HAVE bought into the MSM BS about her. My 15 yo daughter’s friend was over and was maligning her. i was surprised. i know her parents are not liberals, and they vote republican. she clearly heard it at home. THOSE are the kinds of people who need to brought into the fold, if she has any prayer of being elected. They are nowhere near accepting of her at this point. That doesn’t mean they won’t ever be.
And as far as you dreaming of being president since you were little, well that just kind of creeps me out. Bill Clinton did the same. I don’t want people like that running the country. I’d rather have someone who wants NO part of the job, but takes it reluctantly.
I have absolutely NO idea who our nominee will be, i have no idea who i even WANT our nominee to be. But it damn well be someone who can WIN it convincingly, because the stakes are way too high to risk losing this time.

It is ok to have dreams. I would love to go into politics because I want to make this country a better place. And I hate the establishment we have now. I hate the way our government is being used to abuse our financial freedoms and other things.

If you are right. There is no hope for this country. Because they will do what they did to Sarah Palin to anyone who shares her values and beliefs. How are we ever going to get ANY conservative elected ever again ?

Do you doubt that I am right? Do you think that the leftists, the MSM, etc. WON’T attempt to destroy any conservative candidate? As far as getting a conservative elected, you have to get some independents and liberals to buy into the conservative candidate— or at least, hope that Obama has so totally screwed things up that people are fearful of allowing him 4 more years.
If you are interested in politics, obviously you should start locally. Where in Southeast Ohio are you? I have family in Warren.

The sad thing is, I defend Palin against the media whores. If they are unfair to her, I step in. My only beef with her was stepping down from her job, supporting McCain for re-election, supporting Fiorina, and stating she agreed with McCain’s immigration stance.

This isn’t about electability for me, as much as it is about whether she fully gets why the things that bother me about her do.

I really don’t wish to support someone who doesn’t.
