Thanks to Glenn Beck, we get bit more insight into the tangled web that The House of Global Warming was built on.
Who would have thought? Goldman Sachs has been working hard to save the environment for years.
Generation Investment Management (GIM) was founded by Al Gore, and a few friends, which included David Blood (former Goldman executive), Mark Ferguson (Goldman) and Peter Harris (Goldman). They are the fifth largest shareholder in the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX). Then in 2006, when the CCX needed some extra funding, who should step up to buy 10% of the company Goldman Sachs.
CCX is an exchange that wont be doing a heck of a lot if carbon trading doesnt become mandatory. All of these players have a vested interest in Cap N Trade legislation.
But its not just Goldman Sachs getting in on the deal to make money out of the trading-scheme-based-on-thin-air.
In 2001, a man was apparently working on a device (?) to make carbon trading possible. He filed a patent, then died. His wife onsold this patent application to Franklin Raines, the CEO of wait for it, Fannie Mae. The same CEO who has committed massive accounting fraud.
Now the story gets more slippery: In 2000 the Chicago Climate Exchange was helped to get started by the Joyce Foundation. Its a charity set up years ago, that now manages around a billion in funds. Heres how Beck tells it:
The Joyce Foundation is like the George Soros TIDES Foundation. In fact, its actually bigger than TIDES and even funds TIDES. Think of it as a place where uber-rich and powerful liberals like to dump their money into, so the cash can be spread around to their pet projects without a direct link.
There was one influential member on the board of the Joyce Foundation at the time the Chicago Climate Exchange got its seed money; someone instrumental in steering the funds towards the creation of the Chicago Climate Exchange. They were on the board from 1994-2002. The founder of the Chicago Climate Exchange, Richard Sandor, said that he knew (this person) well, which is perhaps how the money was awarded to the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, where Sandor was a research professor. Ill get back to that person in a minute.
Who could it be that one influential member of the board, who was active in getting the CCX started? Apparently it was a man named Barack Obama.
And that patent application owned by the Fannie Mae CEO? It was finally approved by the patent office on Nov. 7, 2006. Coincidentally the day after the Democrats took control of Congress.
So now, Fannie Mae, who is congressionally mandated to make housing more affordable, is poised to reap billions on a system that has nothing to do with housing except for that it would make housing costs go up.
Theres more:
Remember when Fannie purchased risky mortgages from banks, bundled them together and sold to investors as mortgage-backed securities? And then the housing market was absolutely destroyed? Well, former Fannie VP Scott Lesmes was responsible for that bundling.
Well, heres the good news: Not only will this new carbon trading system try the exact same bundling method (except with air); they are using the exact same guy: Scott Lesmes.
The full Glenn Beck piece. He has challenged the media to report and investigate these connections

Stunning Pictures of Al Gore’s New $9 Million Mansion Media Totally Ignored By Noel Sheppard Created 05/03/2010 - 23:45
Nobel Laureate Al Gore purchased a $9 million mansion in the luxurious hills of Montecito, California, recently, and with the exception of the Los Angeles Times and Fox News, America’s media couldn’t care less.
You think it might be because the Gore-loving press wouldn’t want people to consider the possibility that all of his global warming hysteria was really about lining his wallet and not saving the planet?
Formulate a response to that question as you look at what all that money the former Vice President is making off of spreading this myth can buy (h/t Doug Ross [1]):
Sweet, wouldn’t you say? (Readers are encouraged to view more pictures of this fabulous estate here [2].)
Certainly not bad for a guy he supposedly [3] was worth between one and two million dollars in 2000.
Were the “Always Fascinated by the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” press interested?
Heck no.
According to LexisNexis, apart from the Los Angeles Times that broke [4] this story last Wednesday, and Fox News’s Sean Hannity who spoke about this on consecutive nights last week, America’s media were totally mum.
Why might that be?
You think Gore’s adoring press don’t want folks to know how much money he’s making off this scam?
Before you answer THAT question, consider what the Nobel Laureate told [4] Congress last year as the House was deliberating cap-and-trade legislation:
AL GORE: Every penny that I have made, I have put right into a non-profit deal, Alliance For Climate Protection, to spread awareness of why we have to take on this challenge. And Congresswomen, if your, if, if you believe that the reason I have been working on this issue for 30 years is because of greed, you do not know me.
Now, imagine for a moment there were actually journalists still in America and not advocates pretending to be journalists.
A former Vice President who last year told a House committee he was putting all of his earnings into a non-profit company to “spread awareness of why we have to take on” global warming a year later buys a $9 million mansion with six fireplaces, five bedrooms, and nine bathrooms for him and his wife.
Don’t you think SOMEBODY should have reported it other than Fox News, the LA Times, and conservative bloggers?
Where’d the money come from? Was this purchased by his non-profit corporation, and if so, how does he get away with that?
Did he sell some of his Google or Apple stock?
And how about some questions about how green the house is? Are there solar panels and windmills to power this facility? If not, what are their plans?
Forgetting all of that, if the Clintons, Bushes, or Cheneys bought such a place, do you think the media would cover it, at least as a human interest story?
For over three years, Gore’s adoring press have followed virtually every move he’s made since becoming the voice of global warming.
He buys a STUNNING villa as the unemployment rate stands at almost 10 percent and Americans are struggling to regain their footing after 2008’s financial crisis, and the media are suddenly disinterested in him?
On exactly which planet, be it cooling or warming, does THAT make any sense?
” Now the story gets more slippery: In 2000 the Chicago Climate Exchange was helped to get started by the Joyce Foundation. Its a charity set up years ago, that now manages around a billion in funds. Heres how Beck tells it:
The Joyce Foundation is like the George Soros TIDES Foundation. In fact, its actually bigger than TIDES and even funds TIDES. Think of it as a place where uber-rich and powerful liberals like to dump their money into, so the cash can be spread around to their pet projects without a direct link “
“Mr. Gore earns a partners salary at Kleiner Perkins. He has substantial personal finances invested at both firms, officials of the companies said. He also serves as an adviser to high-profile technology companies including Apple and Google, relationships that have paid him handsome dividends over the last eight years.”
Gore has been paid an INSANE amount of money for absolutely nothing.
Not a secret any more.

A nice criminal enterprise, eh?

Bring it!!! Drill, pump, ship, refine, distribute and keep it below $3/gal for the rest of time in spite of the GovernMental EnvironMentalists!!! (and their BLEEPIN government funded lawyers at taxpayer expense)
The only reason we're getting dumped on by these irrational irritants is because we lie back, spread our legs and do our best to make the best of it all!!!
It'll stop when we simply revolt and call it all unexceptable!!!
Thing of beauty-—well, depending on perspective
That's for when we get rid of these bastards once and for all
Ping.
Oh happy day, when that occurs!!!
Here is some background on the Joyce Foundation:
History
The Joyce Foundation was established in 1948 by Beatrice Joyce Kean of Chicago. She was the sole heir of the Joyce family, which originated in Clinton, Iowa. The family wealth came from the lumber industry, including family-owned timberlands, plywood and saw mills, and wholesale and retail building material distribution facilities which were located in the Midwest and Louisiana.
The Foundation’s mission was broadly stated as “religious, charitable, scientific, literary and educational purposes.” Until the early 1970s, assets of the Foundation remained small and grants were given to the particular philanthropic interests of its founder. When Mrs. Kean died in December of 1972, the Foundation received ninety percent of her estate, an amount in excess of $100 million. A professional staff was retained and Kent F. Peterson, who had been an executive of the family-owned Tremont Lumber Company, was named president.
At the time of Mrs. Kean’s death the Foundation’s annual giving totaled less than $100,000. By 1974, when the Foundation received Mrs. Kean’s total bequest, annual giving reached $500,000; by 1976, it was $10 million. During the first twenty-five years, traditional health organizations and hospitals received the majority of the Foundation’s contributions. In 1973, higher education and cultural institutions were added as major beneficiaries. In 1978, the Foundation published its first public annual report under the direction of its new president, Charles U. Daly. Included in that report was a description of the Foundation’s programmatic interests in culture, education, environment and conservation, government, health and social services.
Over time, the Foundation’s mission has evolved. New programs have been added, and the focus has sharpened to concentrate on public policies affecting the Great Lakes region. Currently, the Foundation’s grantmaking focuses on education, employment issues affecting low-wage workers, Great Lakes environmental issues, gun violence prevention, money and politics, and culture. Succeeding Mr. Daly as Foundation President have been R. Craig Kennedy (1986-92), Deborah Leff (1992-99), Paula DiPerna (1999-2001), and Ellen S. Alberding (2002-present).
