If you wanted to punch the U.S. right now, that would have been one effective as H^^^ way to do it, with many bad consequences.
When is the last time an oil rig collapsed?
Fire doesn’t melt steel either.
Fire melted steel on 4/21
I have been wondering the same thing, too coincidental for me.
At the risk of redundancy I say, as a Jewess in the US, that I believe the gulf oil platform was sunk by a North Korean Stealth Torpedo, the 2nd test of the same type that they used to take out the South Korean Navy ship last month.
Rigs Do Explode, if they blow-in and the preventer fails.
Had a good friend in College who was the only survivor of a blow-out and rig fire. Back in the mid 1960’s.
It is possible that someone torched it, but I am very doubtful that happened. Drilling for oil has always been a very risky and dangerous business.
Oil well blow outs do occur! However, it requires several things to go wrong at once, usually involving human error. It would be especially unusual for such a technologically sophisticated rig as this one with its multiple redundancies, better than airliners, and strong emphasis on safety.. It is definitely suspicious.
The 0 regime in DC does not want the US to develop it's own energy resources. However, when gas goes over $4 this summer, the political pressure is going to be high to "do something".
No better way to take the wind out of the "drill here, drill now" crowds sails then this "accident". So even if it was terrorism, the DC clown posse are never going to look for it. They want it to be an accident so an accident it will be.
A foreign submarine in the Gulf of Mexico is not possible, unless of course we allowed it to be there.
Support an 0bama for president in 2012 campaign?
Sorry, I'm better now. Back to serious discussion.
I have worked in the offshore oil for 27 and I dont believe it was a conspiracy.
The rig crew had cemented the casing and displaced to a light fluid to pressure test and thereby losing a barrier.
They had a channel in the cement and it came back at them. They tried to shut the BOP and they had a running tool which wouldnt shear over the shear ram. If they could have shut the BOP it would have been a standard procedure to kill the well and bleed off the gas.
A similar incident occurred in the north sea some years ago but they were lucky and had no explosion.
It was just plain unlucky and statistically something that occurs in our industry every so many years just like a helicopter crash.
Incidents or accidents on rigs often involve human error or defective equipment. It could have been a combo of the two here. I dont believe it was a death wish on the part of the driller or sabotage.
In addition, most oilfield employees are loyal to their companies and employers and sabotage with a huge loss of life I cant believe is something they would willfully participate in.
There is no info. only speculation at this time because they dont know exactly what happened, and they wont until they get the BOP up and inspect it.
And rigs do sink.
The Ocean Ranger went down in 1982 with no survivors of the 84 man crew.
Obama's response will be the same as last time, "Inflate your tires."
I heard a guy on Levine who was on the rig and escaped. He said it was a freak accident where a huge pressure surge came up through the pipe and exceeded some kind of safety pressure valve causing friction and thus an explosion. He said these things can happen but as they do a new safety feature is then installed so not to happen again.
I think Osama and his goons would love to blow up a rig...right up his alley...structural...and middle east related...
Yeh...this was his work...IMHO
Lake Peigneur is among my all time favorite “disasters”. Man I would have loved to watch that play out.
my brother works for shell oil company. he told me that its looking like the BOP (blow out preventer) FAILED to close, from word he heard.(MMS is suppose to inspect BOP’s.(minerals management ser.-(the gov.). he also said the secrect service agents and obozo’s cabinet staff were at the robert training facility in robert, louisiana on thursday..

rigs will explode if the mud weight is to light and high pressure gas will force the mud up if to light.. the explosion is caused by high pressure natural gas mixed with oil

been mucho yrs since I was on one but true....this doesnt “JUST” happen!
