“Do you reckon the old hose/exhaust pipe method would work?”

Yep, with equal results! You have to bury the entry so the gas won’t just rise out of it. If you find a tunnel, just dig a hole into it and the hose trick is a go.

One thing you can also do is buy what are called ‘smoke candles. They are legal, but a note here. ‘IF’ you use one to flood the tunnels with smoke, some may escape (you will know where every tunnel entry is!!!) So, if you do use them, do yourself a treat and notify the fire department and the police departments that you are doing this, so that they don’t respond to a ‘fire’ when there is none. The smoke candle is simple lit, tossed up into the tunnel away and the entrance covered. The smoke drives the moles nuts and they leave the tunnels quick! In fact, they will often not go back into the tunnels when they smell the smoke residue. You will likely need only the 1A size (Makes heavy white smoke for 30 seconds) You might be able to find them locally from supply houses that supply plumbers, they use them to trace drains.

Garlic And Sapphires
If you show partiality, you commit sin. —James 2:9

In her fascinating book Garlic and Sapphires: The Secret Life of a Critic in Disguise, Ruth Reichl reflects on her 6 years as a New York Times restaurant critic. Because she was the most influential critic in the country, top restaurants posted her photograph so their employees could recognize her. Hoping to earn a high rating in the New York Times, the staff intended to provide her with their top service and best cuisine.

In response, Reichl developed a clever strategy. Hoping to be treated as a regular patron, she disguised herself. On one occasion, she dressed up as an old woman. The restaurant made her wait a long time to be seated and then was unresponsive to her requests.

In the early church, James spoke out against favoritism: “[If] you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to him, ‘You sit here in a good place,’ and say to the poor man, ‘You stand there,’ or, ‘Sit here at my footstool,’ have you not shown partiality among yourselves?” (2:3-4).

When people attend our churches, are they treated impartially? Or do we show favoritism to the wealthy or elite? God calls us to show concern for and interest in all people, regardless of their social status. Let’s welcome all to join us in worshiping the King!

Dear Lord, You welcomed us into Your kingdom, not because of who we are but because of who You are— our loving and merciful God. Help us to open our arms of fellowship to all who enter in. Amen.

God lets us into His fellowship. Who are we to keep others out?

Hey, thanks John. With the smoke candles I could find out where their entrances are. Where they are it’s impossible to find the “doors”. I’m afraid they have burrowed under the front porch. I don’t know if they will go under the concrete foundations or not. If they do, I will surely have to find a way to “smoke” them out. See how Freepers always have the answer to any problem. We have the smartest people in the world (and some of the not so smartest). (((((John)))))

Pelicans

Don’t go to lunch with pelicans.
It isn’t very wise,
Although their stomach is quite small,
The mouth is twice its size!

And notice something else, my friend,
When they arrive to dine,
The purse they carry has no coins,
They’re paupers by design.

They’ll eat ‘til they can hold no more,
Then stuff more in their cheeks,
They’ll fill their doggy bags so tight,
It might just last for weeks.

So never dine with pelicans,
Whose appetite you can’t fill,
They won’t ever say a “Thank You!”
And who wants a great big bill?

Happy Thursday, LTOS.
I haven't been around any pelicans but since seagulls can be pretty aggressive,
I will give the pelicans some elbow room.

Have a delightful day.

I have to run some today, Amy! I love the ocean pictures as I was just talking about the ocean and how it soothes my mind and makes me feel so happy and serene!

Loved the opening with the pelicans and enjoyed NNB’s poetry!
And am so worried about the animals and fish down on the coast...its so sad, it breaks my heart. I also am so sorry for the fishermen who earn their livings on the ocean. What a horrible tragedy! Guess they would love to blame it on President Bush....we have no President now. Do we???

It is an excellent article. Thanks.

Glen is a favorite of mine. He definitely passionate, if a bit outlandish; and is doing a great job of teaching many governmental missteps by men of ill intentions for America. It is true and is always true that evil is alive and well on the earth. The work of the influence of satan.

Wilson, Roosevelt, Carter, Clinton each has moved America toward socialism. Not good, and toward ever increasing government and ‘one world order’, ‘the League of Nations’, Social Security, ‘United Nations’, Income taxes, etc. the one that chaps me is the use of attorney/lawyers to decide if and when missiles/bombs can be dropped on know sites of the enemy leaders, etc. Attorneys are causing many of today's ills.

Sorry to go off on this.

Yadda yadda. It is maddening. Immigration is next. Obama is intending to RAM through all the Legislation he can and is stacking the Supreme Court with , homosexual, progressive/Marxist that believe in defining speech and making law.

We are in a huge mess and it is compounding by the day.

Republicans will not vote for more spending, (I pray) and the Democrats will not vote for cuts in spending. Thus total grid lock except for the fact they are the majority at this time.

Pray for Glen and his family and their safety. He is a huge target and he knows it. Same with Sarah Palin, she knows she is a target and just how ruthless the other side is ... there is nothing they won't do. Lie, cheat, steal, and kill. The scripture describes satan that way ...
the thief comes but to cheat steal and kill and to destroy. We know satan is a liar /deceiver from the beginning.

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” (John 10:10-11)

God bless America, and help us in our day, in Jesus name, amen.

your "awe" for the day

HUMMINGBIRD

from the email

Hummingbird.......

This is actually a pretty amazing story about a baby hummingbird that I found on a sidewalk. He couldn't fly, so I took him under my wing.

At night, he would come home to our house for safety. During the day, he was in the backyard of the house near where I found him. About 4 days after I found him, I was holding him in my cupped hands when his mama came by to feed him. She had seen me around, I guess, because she just flew over, perched on my hand and then fed him. This happened a number of times, so I called a friend who is good with a video camera, and he came over to film some of the amazing goings on that I told him about.

Good Morning Mayor and All.
Could use some prayer here. I have been having abdominal pain since Monday night. It comes and goes. It is back today and I'm not sure what to think. May need to call the Doc. Pray that it will subside.

Good afternoon, Jaycee. Thank you.
Happy Thursday.

I was on the phone all morning.
I'm changing my Medicare Supplemental Insurace effective June 1st.
The old policy raises my premiums every 6 months.
By submitting the application by phone, the change can take effect immediately.

The people, fish and animals in the Gulf are in my prayers.
I don't know why this has taken so long.
It would have been much easier to clean-up if this well were located in ANWAR.

Have a delightful Thursday.
