Good evening.
This morning the beauty of the countryside as I drove to church was heart-stopping. It is a landscape that has become very dear to me thru the seasons: in the river's valley it's easy to fall quietly into another time, another age. And then I remembered nature's terrible destructiveness yesterday on other landscapes, places that others hold dear. How to explain it all?? I can't..not easily.
Then at church, there was much joy: the confirmands were accepted into the church's membership with celebration and love. All these young people had found focus and purpose on the past year's journey.
But our church family also absorbed some terrible news: a dear couple has learned that the husband has a deadly cancer.
And there again the juxtaposition of joy and deep sorrow. That was the theme of the day, and perhaps many days in our lives and that of our country.
Thinking about it off and on throughout the day, one thing does seem clear. And that is that with God's help, it is possible to face it all...a rich, precious existence, not always understood, but appreciated nonetheless.
Would you say that is his plan to do so?

I just got a Kindle and am delighted with it! The first book I put on it was C.S. Lewis’ The Screwtape Letters.
I will have to check out The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Although I have planned to read more of Lewis this summer. I can do both, though. :^)
I love the Lewis’ books too.
Went to doc’s yesterday, Dr said I had to excercise, walk, so I got up real early, sun just coming up and me and my two dogs went walking around the place, First thing off the bat they jumped a rabbit and the chase was on, ony thing about it is rabbit finally figured it out that if he went thru the fence he would be safe, went thru the wires and off into the swanp he went.

Now, not a man in the police field has never NOT taken a oath such as this, including in AZ. THEY ARE ONLY CONFIRMING AND ACTING ON THAT OATH WITH THE ARREST OF THE HISPANICS HERE ILLEGAL. IT IS A VIOLATION OF BOTH THE STATE AND-—REPEAT AND JUST ONE MORE TIME THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.....
May God bless each and every one of them, and their families who suffers with them.

Ummmmm, if he had no or very little hair I would swear this as me. I am no bald, I cut it extreamy short, always have.

Sounds like an entertaining walk that you had. Sam the hound dog doesn’t even react to rabbits any more, but then what can you expect for a dog that’s 15 years old...
‘spect a lot of loving and a good rub every once of a while.

Be sure to check out posts 51 and 68, which lysie so graciously posted for me.
Early last evening I was asked about how Noelle was doing and when I got home, there were two pictures of her just waiting to be posted at ATRW!
Oops, sorry. I don’t know if it was my head for figures, or my fingers, but both post numbers are wrong. The right numbers are 54 and 71!
She’s wonderful!
While I was out of money and flat on my back during my recovery, I read over 100 full length novels and technical books. All free. All from online, many had the Kindle option for downloading.
There are some unscrupulous sites out there that unlawfully republish copyrighted works without permission, so I don't use those, but anything past copyright or on the Commons Copyright or with permission of the author (example is Baen), are fair game.

I like searching for the oldies, yard sales, second hand stores, and have known to trade one or two for someones one or two. Course D is always buying me books, most enjoyble to me are the Christian novels, when you get towards ‘the day’ you will also enjoy them.

I have paper books, about 3000, but many are reference books, and I do most of my reading on the laptop these days. I just read too fast to be able to afford books. I haven't paid taxes for the last two years because I haven't made enough.
