Good evening.
This morning the beauty of the countryside as I drove to church was heart-stopping. It is a landscape that has become very dear to me thru the seasons: in the river's valley it's easy to fall quietly into another time, another age. And then I remembered nature's terrible destructiveness yesterday on other landscapes, places that others hold dear. How to explain it all?? I can't..not easily.
Then at church, there was much joy: the confirmands were accepted into the church's membership with celebration and love. All these young people had found focus and purpose on the past year's journey.
But our church family also absorbed some terrible news: a dear couple has learned that the husband has a deadly cancer.
And there again the juxtaposition of joy and deep sorrow. That was the theme of the day, and perhaps many days in our lives and that of our country.
Thinking about it off and on throughout the day, one thing does seem clear. And that is that with God's help, it is possible to face it all...a rich, precious existence, not always understood, but appreciated nonetheless.

So, to refocus my mind, I have gone back to Chair's posting on March 24 of this year. I'm not going to repost it in its entirety, but just the "where do we go from here" part. This is the current phase of our battle. The emphases are mine. Chair wrote:
What do WE do?
First - there is no longer a Democratic Party in the United States. There are only Communists. Anyone who associates with them is a Communist. They can choose to leave that party - if they don't, they acquiesce. They are then also Communists.
Second - NO, repeat, not a single, Republican should associate him or herself in political discourse with the Communists. THEY have declared open war on the Republic. It must be returned.
Third - we MUST focus on taking back the Legislature, and then the Presidency.
If the above fails - well, I don't want to talk about that now. (I TRULY hope I'm wrong on where things might head after 2012 if the Communists haven't been sacked.)
To quote Sir Winston Churchill: This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. It might, quite possibly, just be the end of the beginning.
And that is where our hope lies.
Because, whatever else the Communist enemy might come to believe, he must understand this: We will fight in every town, every village, every corner. He must not reckon on our surrender anywhere, because we will not. We will work tirelessly and endeavor whatever we may to break his will.
We will not tire, we will not falter - AND WE MUST NOT FAIL!
This is America. There is no where else to go.
The “it” in my reply meant “the migraine” not the prayers. I benefitted from the prayers. The migraine ~~ not so much.
It is in the fifty degree range here right now today. Did I miss summer?

It's snowing.
Doc fussed at me, gotta drop some pounds, get more exercise but happy to say he has gotten off this going to the ‘rehab’, hospital gym as I call it, I swear I bet one of his cousins or something owns that place. I got MY on walking machine, OWN ‘go nowhere’ bike, personal step thingie, he just shakes his hear. As far as eating I told him to tell HER (pointing to D) but, he just smiled, no more do this, do that to me.
Just a little nip in the air here, will change later I am sure and they SAY a chance of rain, them talking up a storm and nary a cloud in the sky.
Off to finish my last cup of coffee, make my bed and plan my cleaning task on this place.

Good morning! GD is forever making me proud, she is helping a boy who has a drug proble, getting him in church, gave him a bible, encourges him at every turn and that is all it is to her, helping him. He is starting to church with us every sunday (which I hope he keeps is word).
