In 2003, she made a dramatic break with the party leadership, including Gov. Frank Murkowski, over ethics issues. The turn could have left Palin an exile from politics. Instead, it propelled her to a landslide victory over Murkowski. Now, as the Republican nominee up against "old guards" from both parties, Palin is again pitching "fresh ideas."

Heh, ping SallyH too. I’ve lurked here for a while, and always wondered if the “H” stood for “Heath”. She’s Alaskan and her Sarah posts seem to have a motherly concern to them.
Having lived through both Bushes and a part of the Obama monstrosity, I can't tell you just how refreshing an independent would be about now. By cutting ties with all things RINO, Sarah's ship would sail unmatched and unbeaten.
Al Gore and John Kerry, had they won, would have taken America to new lows without a doubt. They'd have dismantled her piece by piece.
Mr. Obama, cool as an iceberg, rips into the hull of America and we're not supposed to care? In my opinion these communists should have been more patient. 70-80 years may not have been long enough to spring Obama on us. I gotta ask, "What's the hurry?"
Could Mr. Cool have in store for us what lay ahead for passengers of the Titanic? 50% survival may sound like good odds to some, but explain that to the other 50%. And, just how like Lincoln might this president (cough,cough) be?

Man, that is a meaty article, there is a lot of hard core information in there, this is some nuts and bolts stuff.
This tells you about why she do things that may scratch the heads, the “conventional wisdom” of pundits and analysis....of course she is going to upgrade to a larger scale if she runs for the President but very interesting indeed.
You just said it best. The part about 'inspiring to bring out the best in others' carries so much weight it defies those weak of mind. This quality alone puts Sarah far ahead of the competition and in direct oppostition to the current White House occupant- it should scare some people.
I get goosebumps when I think of the shivers she sends up the spines of those who plot to destroy America. Who ever succeeds Hobama will have the very difficult task of re-building a country in very bad shape given the reckless and rapid deployment of his agenda. Charisma will be a necessity to say the least.
Palin’s greatest strength (to her supporters) and her greatest weakness (to her detractors) is that she doggedly and tenaciously insists on being Sarah Palin from Wasilla, Alaska.

Yep, and as she described in Going Rogue, Iraq veteran Track now is really pissed off at how she had been treated in 2008 and is pushing her to take the fight right back to the liberals' door step, which she's doing in spades.
There's so much that goes on behind the scenes in politics. When you start hearing the stories and then watch how Palin deals with what is going on; you can't help but thinking: "Hey you can trust Palin, and I want her running the show, she's making the right decisions". That's the reason why so many Alaskans liked her and why her ratings were off the chart.
Palin accomplished way more here in Ak than the last few governors even attempted; she addressed issues that most politicals wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole, and went against the Repubs when they were wrong. The kind of problem solver we need to turn our country around.
Then you see other sides of Palin too. Last Spring at Ice out, we had a big flood. Washed away 1/3 of the community, road, tele poles, ect. Palin flew up, no film crew taking pictures for election campaign; walked around the place talking to everybody. Then she rode a 4 wheeler out this mud bog trail (our road was washed out) to see the Indians out the village. Now I once saw old Phony Tony Knowles heli into an Indian village for 1/2 hour after a 7.9 shaker. Took pictures with his Arm around Grandma, never walked 50 feet from where he landed. Palin is the only Gov I have ever seen on an ATV up here.
I just wish she was still our Governor.
All I know is what I’ve read about her, and the speeches she’s given, both on TV and one (a Right To Life event), in person.
I love her. Period. Does she have some points that we’d disagree with? Yup. But I love this woman. Love the spunk, love the attitude. Love the family. Wish I had half their work ethic.
She seems like Real People. While I sympathize with your wish to still have her as governor. would you consider sharing her with the rest of the U.S.? Say, in 2012 or 2016? We’d only want her for 8 years or so…

I understand what you are saying but, Having donated my dollars to J.D’s campaign I hate to see Gov. Palin (who I like a lot) helping him to get re-elected.
It all sounds like politics as usual, SOP, Exactly how we have arrived at this present state of affairs.

Thanks for the ping, Onyx. I really enjoyed the article and the comments by Eska. (I must say that I wish she had taken out Lisa Murkowski in 2004, then beaten her old man in 2006; That way she could have appointed a conservative successor and retired the Murkowskis from politics.)
SP is an insurgent. She doesn’t need the Establishment nor does she want them. I saw an article in Politico touting (don’t laugh) Haley Barbour, and Fred Malek, the genius whom managed the 37% 1992 Bush debacle and who opined that SP is not doing the right things to prepare to run (whatever that means), said Barbour would be at the head of the pack. I really can’t wait for 2012, because I want to watch them weep and scurry around and then come looking for jobs in the Palin administration. I hope she boots the lot of them into the Potomac.
I read the same Malek article. Barbour is my governor. I hope he enters the race. I hope the whole cast of characters enter. They’ll only make her better and give her the chance to show the doubters how exceptional she really is. Eska is a treasure because of the first person knowledge.
I have watched Palin in action and no joke; she will make those hard political decisions; probably what I like the best about her and also her down to earth common sense approach to problem solving.
Boy it grates me to no end to see what the press & left has tried to do to her. I hold some solace in the fact that America is still seeing the truth.
If you don’t mind, I am going to start pinging you to several articles about her, because your first person knowledge can only be called a blessing. I don’t want you to feel obligated to reply to every ping, or even to half of them, -— just when you feel like it. I treasure your comments and I know that all of Sarah’s supporters will too.
I share your outrage at the lame stream media and the democrats for their unconscionable treatment of her and both continue the assualt becuase they know she’s the greatest threat to the Marxist-in-Chief. I pray for our Sarah, her family and for her safety.
I take solace knowing that she attracts crowds like no other and in cities throughout the nation. On Friday for example, she spoke to 17,000 in Lousiville, Kentucky and the photos showed the crowd was primarily women! Of course, the lying news media keeps telling us that women don’t like her. In Minnesota, she and Michele Bachman had crowds of 11,000 in the afternoon (women) and the same number later in the evening when Sean Hannity hosted his TV show before a live audience.
Barbour is establishment to the core. There is no way he would make the choices that must be made to restore this country. He is in no sense her equal. In fact, none of them are.
I think that it is her destiny to be President. God raised up Reagan, John Paul II and Lech Walesa (at precisely the right time) to overturn the Evil Empire, and He created the conditions in which it could happen.
In a very similar way, I believe that Sarah Palin is destined for great things as well, things as much spiritual as temporal. Esther is the Old Testament prefigurement for Sarah Palin. There are New Testament and modern historical and mystical salients as well that suggest why she is going to win.
I’m sure you read Eska’s new comments above. Sarah’s the one to make the difficult decisions that have to be made to save and then restore our Republic. I agree with you.
