After 9 years, I see no reason to change mine either.

(Mine's pretty obvious. But I've always liked yours. :)

I was so happy to find FR I wanted to up right away.

I didn’t give much thought to the name, just the first thing that came to mind.

It's a tree....

That has many names...and many uses.

Way more important and useful than any politician.

If I told you, I’d have to kill you.

Or, at the very least, come, see and conquer him.

Thomas Sumter, a here of the Revolutionary Way in SC, was nicknamed Gamecock.

That and the mascot for my University (BS/MS) is the Fighting Gamecock, much to the annoyance of PETA.

Because comedy is the mental weapon most damaging to tyranny and evil, because I'm a costumed hero with a secret identity in real life, and because "Jim Robinson" sounded fake.

Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

Glad it makes you smile! At one point I had a kind of pic I could throw in, a still taken from the Canadian cartoon series the Raccoons (actually from a TV special: “The Raccoons, Let’s Dance!”). It showed Bert Raccoon as a DJ of some sort, so you had “raccoon radio” there.

Now that I've read everyone's secrets, it's incumbent upon me to 'explain' my handle. It's inspired by Sir Thomas More, as depicted in the play by Robert Bolt, A Man For All Seasons.

I greatly admire More because neither fear of pain and death, nor the emotional ties of long and close friendship, could dissuade him from his sworn duty to uphold the law.

There are too many reasons to list for my being a Republican. However, that was back when I thought GWB actually WAS the answer. Now that the Republican Party is at a crisis point, I may have to reconsider my screen name. That depends on whether leadership can be wrested back from the RINOs.

I am curious as to whether anyone here has recognized the underlying word play.

I was living in Sweden when I signed on. I had been trying for a few years but you had to have an email account that was one you paid for, not just a freebie like yahoo or hotmail. Finally, freebie emailers like me could get an account, so I picked a veggie that English people call a “Swede”. It’s silly, and I have never even eaten one. You may notice that I signed up on September 10, 2001. Sigh. I was all wound up about Gary Condit, the one American who was grateful for the next day’s tragedy. :(

I was lurking on FR all through the impeachment of the Stain and my screen name is just how I felt with just about all of the things going on during that time. Finally signed up for an account to post a reply in Apr 2000 and used that meme.

The name still fits perfectly. Nothing seems to have changed in gov’t, other than for the worse, and the personnel involved. And even some of those are still there.
