Good morning to all Freeper gardeners! It is finally April and hopefully most areas in the USA are experiencing warmer weather. Let get gardening!
To all Freepers - If you are a gardener or you are just starting out and are in need of advice or just encouragement please feel free to join in and enjoy the friendly discussion. There are many Freepers from all over the Good Ol USA that are willing and eager to help. The only way to become a good gardener is to get out there and start a garden. Dig in the dirt.
Thanks!
Sweating like a pig under mid-eighty skies in New England this weekend...where’s my air conditioner?
got photo?
The snow is special delivery from MtnClimber!
It is mixed with rain and it’s not sticking ~:(
LOL! Smarty pants!
Thanks for the link though. I think I did see Finocchio at one of the stands. I’ll check next time I’m there.
Woo-Hoo!
Hubby and I built our first raised bed today, (8 X 4 Cedar), and then I took all the grass out of the bed area. Next step is to add the peat moss, sheep manure, top soil, black earth and the shredded paper I brought from work, but my body says I’ve had enough for one day. How much of the mix should be peat moss? Can I put in too much? What about the manure?
Why don’t they sell back rubs at the garden center?
;-)
Did you get an Ipad?
My hubby can’t wait!
You sure you haven’t had too many Easter eggs?
I just read that they doubled their first day sales projection by 200,000 and NO, one of those does not have my name on it. I am looking at a 2 year old iPod Nano on my desk with 000 miles on it as my grand kids can’t find time to show me how to use it!
and just like that the snow has stopped...
Heh! It is a bone chilling 36 degrees out at the airport. It was raining so hard at Church they had to hide to the eggs upstairs in meeting rooms...
And to think how excited I was the two years I lived in southern CA and it rained...twice, LOL!
We had a brief thunderstorm here today, and it’s pretty windy, but all in all a very nice day. Got a lot more done in the garden:
*Got the big veggie bed raked into piles for burning
*Cleaned up the peony bed (they’re pokin’ up!)
*Fixed the auto-vent on my greenhouse
*Re-settled ‘Caradona’ Veronica that had heaved out
*Walked the dogs twice
Putting the finishing touches on Easter Dinner because ‘The Usual Suspects’ will be here at 5pm. :)
We finally have the sun peaking out.
They had time-outs on the pro go-cart track yesterday for egg hunts. Never seen anything like that before.
As for the amount of peat I do think you can add too much. I would not go past equal amounts soil and peat. This is just my opinion. In seeding mixes that are mostly peat and vermiculite they add lime to balance the pH.
Mrs. Happydog slid 50’ off the road going to work this last Thursday during a snow storm. She wasn’t hurt, thank goodness. The local rag mentioned that Thursday’s snow came on the 6 month anniversary of the 1st snow of winter.
We are do for more snow tonight and tomorrow so I’ll need my shovel but I’ll send ya some ice-melt.
Don’t forget to use a broom to knock the snow off the tree limbs!
I want a game camera to see what is pulling down my bird feeders but when I went to the Cabela’s website my eyes glazed over at all the choices available. What model does your hubby have or what would he recommend?
Price is no object as FReeper happydogx2 said he would buy it for me...
I am glad Mrs HDX2 was OK but Was the Yugo a total loss?
