Blind snakes have been discovered to be one of the few species now living in Madagascar that existed there when it broke from India about 100 million years ago, according to a new genetic study. Blind snakes are small worm-like creatures that likely feel their way through underground homes by sensing chemicals through their skin. It turns out, these organisms have been around since 150 million years ago, when the supercontinent called Gondwana was just breaking up, according to new genetic research. The study suggests that when Madagascar broke off of India, the blind snakes hitched a ride aboard the giant slabs of Earth. The result: Blind snakes evolved into different species that ultimately spread around the globe. "Blind snakes are not very pretty, are rarely noticed, and are often mistaken for earthworms," said Blair Hedges, professor of biology at Penn State University. "Nonetheless, they tell a very interesting evolutionary story." Â (Unlike earthworms, blind snakes have backbones.)

Not possible. Continerntal drift didn’t happen. /s
Even a blind snake can find a continent every now and then.
Blind snake hobo’s sounds like the ‘DemonRATS’ have been around a long time and haven’t changed a bit!
Found tiny ones (3”) in Florida. They are also in the Bahamas.
What did they evolve into? Birds, fish? Democrats?
Those would be the only pet snakes I would ever think about keeping, cause they are almost like earthworms.
“the blind snakes hitched a ride aboard the giant slabs of Earth.”
There’s a killer on the road.
His brain is squirmin’ like a toad.
Take a long holiday.
Let your children play.
If you give this man a ride, sweet family will die.
There’s a killer on the road.
[yeah-ah]
*ping*
Problem is if you miss your ride you’re stuck for like a million years.
To have no legs or arms would truly be a catastrophe but to be born blind also?
Imagine, begrudging these poor blind snakes a hitched ride.
No thumbs!!! How can they hitch a ride? No sight!!! How do they know when a continent is drifting by?
Of course, you wouldn’t figure it out for like two million.
Q: What did the snail hitchhiking on the back of a turtle say?
A: Weeeeeeeeee!
I guess because they’re blind, they don’t even know *about* thumbs. But the hitching thing really does become a problem. Basically, I think we should just put all these blind snakes out of their misery.
