Bart Stupak Only Has Himself to Blame (Vanity)
3/16/10 | Me

Posted on 03/16/2010 9:27:04 AM PDT by murron

Bart Stupak bought into Pelosi's sales pitch last year and voted for the House health care bill because they supposedly took out the abortion funding. Now the bill is back and he's trying to get the abortion funding removed again, this time with no success.

It's because he voted for the darn thing in the first place that we will have abortion funded by the taxpayers. So it looks like he didn't accomplish much. I doubt that it really matters to him, though.

Nice vanity, but how does his original vote for the House bill matter. It is the Senate bill which is at issue right now.

The original House bill could have been dead and we wouldn't have to worry about the Senate bill.

Spot on! And wasn’t it Senator Snow out of Maine that really put us in this HORRIBLE position right now? I never see anyone talking about that but somehow it’s in my mind that she wanted to allow the bill to go to the next level, wonder what she is thinking about that decision/vote now???

Her point being that the house originally took up the legislation and passed it. Had House not been able to pass it, which without Stupac they could never do, Than the Senate would not have put any bill forward, it would have been dead last year in the house.

The bill is not going to pass.

And when it doesn't, it will be mostly due to NARAL and the most extreme segment of the pro-abortion lobby, and that is rather remarkable to me.

"Pro-life democrat" is an oxymoron.

Stupak is just a moron.

I think Bart Stupak has voted his conscience and I think it’s admiral.

I don’t agree with him on much of anything but I can admire that he is standing firm to his belief, and it’s not an easy thing it sounds.

I think there may be several democrats that are shocked at how things are going, that it’s not they democrat party they thought they belonged to.

I am also grateful he has revealed some of the nasty tactics BOTH rounds—that has been used/told on/to him... that took some guts.

This whole shell game is designed to provide political cover to Dems who won’t get re-elected unless they can hide their true intentions from the electorate.

Stupak is definitely a man with convictions. He’s holding firm under great pressure. I admire that part of his politics.

Are we forgetting about ole Ben Nelson? W/o his vote the Senate bill would not have been passed. Pls don't let this pr--- off the hook.

I saw Stup-pac on the tube yesterday. He reminded me of a well-coiffed, well-dressed snake oil salesman. He expounded glibly and boringly in an unending spate of earnest words. He was all over the place, putting on a real show of concern. He was the voluble person whom Shakespeare described as "full of sound and fury, signifying nothing".

He was embracing and approving of the entire fraudulent HellCare bill (sans abortions) like a true believer. It takes a con artist to recognize a con bill.

He's covering his arse every way from Sunday. He's the living embodiment of The Importance of Being Earnest.

He's a Dim. He's a liberal. He's a socialist. He's a canny pol. I won't believe a word he says until the actual vote.

I'm in good company.....Rush agrees with ME on Stu-pac.....and that's an honor.

It would have never gotten to the Senate had he and the other so-called “pro-life Dems” not voted for the House bill in the first place last year whenever it was the House voted.
